Insa Turbo Dakar

Anybody had any dealing with these tyres ?

Thinking of a set for my spare 17" wheels to use for off road and bad Winter conditions

I personally wouldn't fit a remold for winter use, off road would be ok but then I wouldn't take your freel off road. 2009 FL2 GS

As the advert says, RETREAD = REMOULD

To be honest, I always used remould tyres on my old cars years ago during the winter.
Always found the tyres to be of a softer rubber than new normal tyres, not unlike the winter tyres of today, and I never got stuck at all using remoulds Thumbs Up ______________________

I could understand using them on older cars, maybe a blow out would not be such a disaster when it comes to possible damage.
We use Michelin Remix on HGV trailers and whilst these are widely known as the best type of remould we have been suffering a number of blow outs with them, sometimes we just lose the tread and the tyre stays up just waiting to cripple the poor tyre fitter when he has to tend to it. I have had some bad experience with remoulds from michelin, bandag, pirelli and colway.
Khumo do some good AT tyres, they might be worth a look. 2009 FL2 GS

Mmm not sure now Sad

So Insa Turbo buy old tyres and remould a new tread on them, not brand new built from scratch

Might have to look further afield now, just don't want to spend a load on tyres that will only be used once twice a year off road.

I have two nearly new Goodyear wranglers on the 17" and 2 near to replacing. Wonder wether to just get 2 new GY wranglers now, but really wanted something a little more rugged if I went greenlaning Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thats exactly what Insa do, depending on the sort of laning you are looking to do, you have a nice Freelander so I would assume that you'll be looking for lanes that are not overgrown and probably maintained to protect your paintwork. If they are maintained they are probably drained and having seen what Freelanders do on LR Experience on standard tyres I would say buy two Wranglers. The chances are if your going to get stuck you will have already turned back to stop getting body damage. 2009 FL2 GS

From what I've read, think Insa Turbos are for serious off roading and challenge vehicles. They have been reviewed in LRO magazine but can't remember what they said. Don't think they would be brill in snow as they are a muddy terrain tyre.

Thinking of keeping to the wranglers now

They were fine last time use off road and for what I'll do I expect I would not need more, except in snow Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

For were I'll get they'll be fine, have to see how much tread is left to see when they'll need to be swapped

If I keep them as is, do I put more tred on the front or the rears Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Check they are the HP ones as fitted OEM as I think they do different qualities of Wrangler tyre. If they are the HPs then £142 sounds a good price. I had to have one fitted a few weeks ago and it cost £150. Black Circles were about £140. Or for about the same money, AJS might have wheels as well!

I've a nice set of Cooper ST's in 245/70/17, great all round tyre, badged as an all-terrain but a bit more agressive, I use them all year round and think they are the mutts nuts. Pretty cheap too at around £90 each. Got mine from Camskill Thumbs Up
