The whole point of snow mode is to smooth out the power going to the wheels to provide maximum traction and minimise the risk of wheels spinning. Agree in powdery deep snow then the sand setting might give you the extra power to get you through and stop you bogging down. Interestingly in desert sand the sand mode can sometimes be a handicap as it can deliver too much power to the wheels and make them dig in.

Interesting - when I turned of DSC in sand mode on a slippery surface the back end slid happily and the brakes only cut in when DSC was turned back on again. |

You can manually select HDC in any TR mode by pressing the control button on the console. HDC is switched on automatically when in Mud&Ruts nut not in other settings.
