England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

The whole point of snow mode is to smooth out the power going to the wheels to provide maximum traction and minimise the risk of wheels spinning. Agree in powdery deep snow then the sand setting might give you the extra power to get you through and stop you bogging down. Interestingly in desert sand the sand mode can sometimes be a handicap as it can deliver too much power to the wheels and make them dig in.

Having played with DSC on and off in various settings on a wide expanse of tarmac I think I'll be leaving it switched on unless I want to feel the rear end sliding away from me for some fun.

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Have been playing around with the FL2 this winter and even with the DSC off it still won't let me have complete control of the car. When it starts to drift it will brake and try to correct the car! HATE it!

Beside that it is by far the best car I have driven in the snow. Smile (when not considering that the damn thing won't start below -5C.......) FL2, TD4 HSE

Interesting - when I turned of DSC in sand mode on a slippery surface the back end slid happily and the brakes only cut in when DSC was turned back on again.

I'm very interested to hear what caused your FL2 not to start below minus 5°C. Please let us know when you have it back to normal. I'm pleased to report that there's no low temperature starting problems with her Ladyship's FL2 here in CH.

You can manually select HDC in any TR mode by pressing the control button on the console. HDC is switched on automatically when in Mud&Ruts nut not in other settings.

When in HDC and it's active, you can increase or decrease the "control speed" in 1 MPH increments using the +/- button on the steering wheel in exactly the same way as you can when adjusting a cruise control setting. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
