FL2 vs. RRS

Men! When we buy our car, we start to look for the next one. For me, it would be the Range Rover Sport. BUT, I have problems in justifying the price difference.

RRS pros:
1. RRS has 1/4 bigger boot, and that with a lining
2. RRS has a tad more sophisticatedcabin, although many components are shared
3. RRS has air-suspension, FL2 doesn't. That said, the FL2 ride is still silky smooth

RRS cons:
1. RRS is almost 1/3 heavier, which results in weaker consumption and perfomance
2. RRS feels smaller in front cabin, the car is actually narrower than the FL2
3. RRS V8 HSE is almost 70% more expensive than the FL2 i6 HSE

Please help me to get rid of this irrational craving! 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

I love the RRS, no doubt about that, but whereas I'd be reasonably happy with any model of FL2, having a low-spec RRS just doesn't seem to make sense, so you're actually looking at more of a price difference than is first apparent, for me at least. When I see a prestige car in a basic trim I tend to think the driver is someone who's driving something more than he can really afford, as a status symbol. I know it's not right to generalise, but that's what I tend to think.

Another issue for UK owners is the high road tax for the RRS.

I think the only thing I really wish the FL2 had that the RRS has is the air suspension.

But adaptive cruise control - wow, that's soooooooo cool!

I bet you feel right at home in your loan car then.

Seriously, though I was the same when i changed, get a low spec D3 or higher spec FL2 that looks better as well.

Wasn't a hard choice.

I had a low spec RRS as a courtasy car, didn't like it, I feel that I would prefer the RR instead, but then I am back to square one, High spec FL2, Slightly lower spec D3 or 3rd hand old RR Vogue

Why do we think about our next car as soon as we buy a new one???

When I buy a new car I also now select which car I'm going to want as a courtesy car, as that's the one I'll spend more time driving. Probably.

One thing I've just noticed about the RRS as I stare out of my office window at one parked on the road below is that it's got a poxy little sunroof - how come it's not got the "glass roof" that the D3 and FL2 has?

RRS or FL2 (LR2); Confused
What can I say?
Levelly cars, deferent things!
Both have an excellent ride Thumbs Up , but better on my Bow down RRS.
The RRS has air suspension, diff lock, low range gear box, extra function on terrain response, off road nav... and 20” wheels: so you can’t see your car in a real off road experience. It’s true, look beautiful!! And if you use a 19” wheels with MT tyres, just... GO BEYOND!! Twisted Evil Really you have the best off two worlds: A refined sport car, and a “DEFENDER” when go off road. I try mine (RRS TDV8) off road and am impressing Shocked Very Happy ! After that I repair 4 wheels Big Cry
FL2 has better nav and communications software, drive is very good, is shipper, and looks very good too. Is not a RRS, but... I don’t know; I mess Sad my LR2 in Mexico, when I am in Spain, like now! Yuri

Why not select a caravan for when you next breakdown in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal Question

Because that would make the shame of breaking down all the worse - It's already bad enough knowing that all those people driving or walking past you are thinking "ha ha, he's broken down", but to imagine they'd be thinking "ha ha, he's broken down AND he's got a caravan".... unthinkable. And I can already feel the personal embarassment and visualise the look of abject horror on the man from LR Assist's face when he turns up.

Please.

Sorry not in my case, I have green flag mayday cover through the caravan club, they tow my caravan and me to the site i was going too, then if my car is not fixed by the day i would return i would get the caravan towed back home.

and i was told by the dealer if phone LR assist they would do there best as well, with the car, which could mean i would be able to get a courtesy car from them too.

Maybe this is the best way to be a closet carvanner, have someone else towing it around so that no one else knows your dark secret Very Happy

I have had to call LR Assist two times, once for the failing to start problem (at home address) they arrived an hour later, disconnected battery to re set everything later software update fixed the problem...good service Thumbs Up

Second time car had severe juddering rear offside wheel while travelling down the A1 ,thought i had a puncture but when i stopped tyre was fine but ...smell of overheating/burning round the wheel Surprised .Called LR assist they arrived thirty minutes later in a repair van Thumbs Up .....couldn`t fix the problem Sad so needed Recovery truck told it would be twenty minutes.......one and half hours later Shocked it turns up .

Have written to Landrover and LR assist to "express" my disappointment Landrover replied promptly offering to pay for my first service Thumbs Up still waiting for a reply from LR assist Sad ....if i were you npinks call green flag first relying on LR assist might mean your in for a long stay by the road.

.
