If all you've done is drained the fuel and put diesel in then you're heading for some problems later. Not sure about the power steering I wouldn't have thought it would be affected. You should really speak to a specialist such as the AA if it's been driven with petrol in it. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

The PAS system is independant of the engine in terms of fluids but they might have had to drain it to get to fuel system pipes to drain them. So possibly not bled properly??

The potential damage to the fuel pump will depend on the mix your good lady managed to make. If it was heavily diesel orientated then should not be an issue but if tank was empty and nearly all petrol it sounds like she stopped before the car stopped so hopefully not too much damage done.
It could be that during time between wifey stopping the car and you trying to start it the two fuels seperated out so hopefully not too much damage done.

I'd be surprised if you've damaged the car - I drove my early diesel Freelander for about 20miles on mainly petrol, ending up on top of an Alpine pass where it refused to restart. Never had any problem later.
We had a lot of discussion on another forum about this, with Land Rover dealer wanting to charge £3000 (yes!) to a Discovery owner. General concensus was - unlikely to be any harm done. 4 miles seems a pretty short drive for damage to occurr. And if the vehicle is under warranty it would probably void most future claims if you told them about it.
No idea about the steering though!

Done this myself, so feel like I can comment.
Drove for 20 miles with a 50:50 mix. Had the fuel drained by a excellent company called dr fuel.
12000 miles later no further problems. Thumbs Up Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.
