In my mind the hdc or reduced traction fault occurs when you start a cold car because the oil supply to the haldex is a little slow at building up pressure when cold, the electrics then notice this initial low pressure and give a warning.

Mine has always (often) done that during winter/cold weather startups. Freely is now 3-years old and just started her 4th winter, so therfore this is not a problem or fault, it is as previously mentioned a normal message (warning if you like) when cold starting.

Mine does this, it says there is a fault but will switch the HDC on andvit works, Yes it does show the message BUT it shouldn't if there isn't a fault I think CG explanation is plausible Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

I am bringing back this topic because I've found out which is the reason for the "HDC Not Available" warning message.

Nick, Please keep us updated on this fault as i had the HDC fault, system not available mesage three times today and each time the car refused to even attempt to start. This is the first time i have seen this message. I had the first service last Thursday so i am wondering if any software updates have induced this problem. Nigel |
