DIM SAT NAV

Got in the car yesterday and realised it was difficult to see the sat nav screen, it was very dim, experimented a bit and realised it was the same brightness whether the lights were on or off, it seems to be stuck on night mode, I have booked it in at Stratstone next week for then to look at it, and also for them to find out where my missing bleep has gone for the ice warning.
Has anyone else had this problem with the sat nav sreen, and what was the outcome.

Thanks

May or may not be the answer but all LCD screens suffer from the cold, first thing on a cold morning the screens definition would be terrible. Only when the cabin warmed would it get better.

It's one of those things you never notice but I am sure the display was much brighter with the lights off, them dimmed when they came on the same as the other displays so they don't dazzle you, my sat nav screen stays the same, dim. (at least its ok at night).

its been mentioned on here before. There is nothing wrong with your satnav screen it is simply the cold. It will after a while come back upto brightness but yes it is a Censored when you want to use the satnav first thing on a cold morning. Thank god the radio display isnt on the same screen! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

I got my car out of the garage so it wasn't that cold, and even at the end of a 40min journey it was still dim, and as i said, lights on or off, it makes no difference to the display.

As Shilen and Eyorkshire say, it is the nature of the screen - they don`t work well when cold.
I guess that the dealer will simply turn up the brightness on the screen setup page - something you could do just as easily, but then it will be dazzling at night.
Suggest you look at the current brightness setting before it goes in and then check it afterwards when they say they have fixed the problem and that "your screen is now bright". - Yes, VERY bright at night! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

i have turned up the brightness to maximum, and its still very dim and difficult to see in daylight. I am sure its linked to the lights, as are the dash and radio display, and should dim when the lights come on, mine doesn't change, it stays dim all of the time.

Couple of things - maybe you've tried already:

1. Dimmer switch for interior light levels has impact.
2. Auto dim switch in satnav settings - manual claims best to make adjustments at night for optimum results!

The dim screen is quite normal in cold weather. The colder it gets the longer it takes to reach normal. You just have to wait until the car is warmed up before you get a "normal" screen Yawn . There is no way you can adjust this without moving to a warm climate or just wait for summer Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I would like to predict that on the morning of the 10th December your dim sat nav screen will be as bright as the morning sun. Whistle (Freelanders have a built in 'customers are thick' setting which corrects any faults on route to dealership thus making you look a fool when they discover no fault, also included at no cost is a restore setting which restarts the fault, this will usually occur 5 minutes after you have driven away from the dealer!) Thumbs Up
