England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Bali Blue
Spare wheel size

Hi all - newbie here, so I'll tread carefully ...

Just picked up my FL2 on Friday last week.
TD4 e HSE manual - Bali Blue.

It has 19" wheels fitted - 19" shadow chrome.

But .. under the boot floor is a 17" spare wheel. Would this be an OK configuration? Surely all the wheels should be the same which is why LandRover sell them in packs of 5!

Any clues would be welcome.

Many thanks

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Narvik Black

I just swapped my 17's for 18's and so now have a 17" spare also, so would like to know!!!

I guess at the end of the day it comes down to rolling circumfrance which if they are the same (which it should be) then it should not be a problem... I would be interested to hear from others though Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

i have shaddow chrome with a steel spare wheel also

they have a different sized tyre, which will make the circumfrence the same as the 19"s

they are also just tempory wheels too, even though they are full sized

Also when I resently spec'ed up a new FL2 MY2011 and i am sure it said the shaddow chromes came in 5 wheel (exc tyres) for £2k Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HST Auto Stornoway Grey

Hi - welcome to the world of Freelander 2 ownership and the excellent forum Freel2.com

Same issue with my 2009 HST - re spare size. Don't worry - as the steel spare should have a tyre with deeper side walls to those fitted on car so diameter is the same overall. Car will be 55 spare possibly 65.

Only issue I have is that spare is a Hankook tyre and Continentals fitted on vehicle. Accepting that spare is speed restricted, I still have some concerns that performance of spare is inferior and if fitted could compromise safety.

Happy motoring - please let us know via the forum how things go. Very Happy

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

I specified a spare wheel over the puncture kit when I ordered mine back in April, the cost was £120 but had it thrown in for free after the dealer totalled up and forgot to include the spare. When I picked it up mid June I was surprised to see a full size 18in HSE alloy with matching Pirelli Scorpion, as I was expecting a steel space saver!

Above posts are correct - overall wheel diameter is the same. Keep a lookout in the for sale section and on e-bay and you may find a correct-sized spare wheel. It's usually 17" ones that go on sale though, I'm afraid.

dealer response

looks like the car was ordered by them (a demonstrator) with the inflation kit, and at some point it's been pinched for another deal and a 17" wheel dropped in to replace. No complaints here, really, I am happier with a wheel, but was interested in the story behind it.

Thanks all for the comments.

Reassured of Somerset!

If that's the case, did they drop in a jack as well? I think from what I've read that a spare is still an available option. There are a few people who have simply said no, if you want to sell me a car, there WILL be a spare wheel!
