Front parking sensors

Still loving my new car but not sure if the front parking sensors are working correctly.

When i drive into a parking space without reversing the front sensors do nothing at all. If i reverse first and then drive forward they work fine and detect anything in front of me. I haven't had a car with front parking sensors before but this isn't how i thought they would work.

Is this how everyone elses work or is there a problem.

The sensors are only automatically activated when you select reverse. They then switch themselves off when you go over 5mph. You will need to switch them on via the dash button if going into a space forwards.

Hope this helps

...otherwise think how annoying it would be every time you pulled up behind another car, such as at a junction or in a traffic jam, and the front sensors started beeping

Thanks for the comments, maybe I should read the instructions but as my wife says men never read instructions. Wouldn't want to dissapoint my good lady after all.

The last week in my car most of the time they do not work anymore... Big Cry

Annoying as I was rather used to them. I think I'll call my dealer one of this days or no, I'll bump into his workshop so he'll understand that I'm not joking.

Rolling with laughter

My wife found out, the hard way, a few weeks ago that you need to select the front sensors manually. After trying to get into an end parking space, we now have a 1" gouge out our front spoiler. Evil or Very Mad
I hope she doesn't read this or i'm dead. Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

I got really confused last night (not difficult, I know!) when I was reversing into a parking space at exactly 6pm.
The "pips" on the radio sound remarkably like the rear sensors - and DO NOT go to a continuous tone as you get nearer! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Now they work again ! (or was it 6 p.m. ? Wink )

Seems to be a "self healing" system...
