Ever since owning the car I have pondered what the very high pitched noise is when I stop the engine and get out. As I leave the car to lock it and walk away, I can always hear this noise which then fades away after a number of seconds. Anyone know what this is?

For the mirror, yep, I'd try WD40.

Strange, this question seems to appear about this time every year, could be due to dust impregnation during the summer then when the tempreture drops after the the mirrors start juddering.

Found this; The ECU is actually keeping the electric motor for the throttle body active, part of the reason is to 'shake' the throttle butterfly in the hope of dislodging any carbon build up, thus avoiding a jamming of the butterfly at the idle position, and thus avoiding making the throttle motor work harder to over-come the jamming. And yes, it will happen every ignition cycle, just like the ABS pump checking itself every start-up/move-off. |
