2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Tambora Flame

HEADLIGHT DEFLECTORS HOW TO FIT

anyone know how or where to fit the deflectors to a freelander 2's lights as the lens dont give any clue,any help would be appreciated because we drive out on friday 28th.

If you are using beam benders, they have to be placed in relation to the small round index mark visible on the light unit .

I've heard that there have been cases of black masking tape damaging the lamp (normal bulb not Xenon) Has anyone had a problem with the freelander?

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Baltic Blue

I bought some EGR headlight protectors, fitted the beam deflectors to them and then take them on and off when travelling abroad. Thanks to Mick on D3 for his advice on that one. FL2 TD4 S Baltic Blue, with twin electrics and towbar, roofrails, luggage cover, spare wheel and mudflaps.

I used black electrical tape last week, as the deflectors I had bought fell off. It has caused a definite crazing of the surface of the headlights, even after the glue residue was removed with meths. It won't affect the lighting, and it's barely visible, but I know it's there! If I had had time I'd have got a roll of sticky-back plastic, which may be better.

Thats interesting. Did you use your headlamps a lot?

I had electricians tape on for over a month and can see no signs of crazing after giving it a good clean off with paint brush cleaner. However I very rarely used the headlamps, just in tunnels.

if you have Xenon's, i think they are meant to have a switch on the back you can pull to drop the light beam down for driving in the EU? HSE, Auto, Colour - Yes

Had them on auto, and lots of tunnels, so yes probably on a lot! I think it must just be toe type of glue.

And to the other query, yes, Xenons have a lever on the back. It's explained in the handbook. However the procedure for non-xenons is NOT explained - thanks again Land Rover!

just a quick update
i followed the instructions my local dealer gave me, by the time i got to nantes they had come off leaving a sticky film on the lens which disappeared once it had rained!!!!.
all in all pretty goddam useless

Looking around on t'internet, I see some tapes and films are specified with "solvent based adhesive". I suppose these could attack the plastic headlamp surface. It's difficult to get full spec details, but I thought I'd try Fablon next, as it is easy to cut to shape and is claimed to be easily removable from most surfaces.

The ones I got from local car spares shop fell off before I even got to the channel.

The ones we got from Halfords stayed on for the trip to Germany in the "summer" and despite eight days of rain in nine days they were still there when we got back to Dover. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Lucky man. I tried Halfords but they had sold out. And I couldn't wait for new stock as I was about to leave. No I hadn't left it to the last minute - I had believed the instructions in the owner's handbook. But I do object to paying for these things every time I go abroad, so I think I'll continue to experiment with black plastic, at least for now. Getting the headlamp protectors would make some sense, but I don't think I go abroad quite often enough to justify that either.
