You cannot beat the GS model for a balance between price and equipment. What Car? review agrees with this.

Just some quick sums.....buying an S and adding extras comes out £2K cheaper than the GS equivalent..only difference is no bluetooth or MP3 |

Must of changed cos of including terrain response. The S with all the toys on my GS worked out a fair bit dearer than the GS. Plus I don't like the wheels on the S. They might change the wheels with the new one. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Yes it has changed - I was talking about the facelift. The old S model was a bit bleak! |

Yep, But in terms of resale/trade-in value it will still be a 'S' not an 'S' with 'GS' Spec. |

Are we certain the power difference is just a remap? There might be some mechanical differences - pistons/con rods/crank? I'm a bit disappointed that the 190bhp model is only auto. This probably points to the fact that the clutch is just barely adequate for the lower power models, including my current one. |

Yes has to be part of the consideration I agree - depends how long you plan to keep the car. However it does show the GS is overpriced in comparison with S model. |

I checked with several dealers and it is just a remap, no other mechanical differences. Andyfr |

Yes unfortunately. The manual delivers the power more smoothly for obvious reasons but I suspect it would have cost LR too much money to introduce a manual as well which would possibly of needed a stronger clutch as well. Yes just the auto...as some members have had dual mass flywheel issues + gear change issues (Jurking) you could make a guess that the manual set up cannot take anymore torque. |

Does anyone know if the auto SD4 will be dual clutch? Cos the jerking on kick down is one of the things I hate on the autos I have had as courtesy cars. Dual clutch would help this I think. Also, I wonder if the new setup will stop the over-revving with the auto. Might have an auto next time if they cured those issues.
