Are mud flaps any good?

With the body kit, i can't fit the LR mud flaps. Does anyone with mud flaps fitted find the rear window gets dirty very quick when driving on wet roads and the door sills also? I frequently have to use the wash/wipe to clean the rear window driving on wet roads from the spray that is kicked up. I was thinking about trying a 'universal' pair but if the mud flaps won't help, not much point.
Also, the sills get dirty very easily as the sealing strip along the bottom of the door has about 2mm clearance from the sill. Can the sill be moved out a bit to make contact with the seal? I don't have a problem but my wife has short legs and can't get out without sliding down the sills. Rolling with laughter Sorry sweetheart... Whistle Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

Hi Wildrover, just tell the wife to do the washing more often if she skanks her trousers on the side cills Twisted Evil If an FL2 is one thing it ain't fashionable when it comes to clothes.......its a mans car which means getting dirty............short legs or long!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't put m,d flaps on a car which states..........rugged, offroad, essence of man , outgoing, butch, brut......mudflaps suggest... camp and reserved, or Toyota, or Suzuki..........not masculinaty Rolling with laughter

Loud and clear, but in this case, it's a womans car.
She picked it, she bought, she washes it and it's not the half hour job at a weekend. It gets the full monty; 4 or 5 hours worth of TLC every time. "i don't clean it good enough and leave water marks".
My part is to remove the wheels every few months to give them a spray of 'wheel shield'. Oh, and fill the tank when needed. Out with the old (2007 SE)

Would side steps do the business (a bit more expensive that mud flaps I know!)

I can't reply to the caravan comment Nightfox, got me on that one 'Check Mate'.

If you can absorb the cost I'd stick with the side steps for her climb onto or the side pipes. Side pipes offer reasonable proctection of the side of the car from muck and filth, the side steps would do even better. Rear flaps might help with spray onto the rear window

I don't think my mudflaps question my masculinity at all!! Evil or Very Mad

TBH I barely even notice that they're there (and neither did the dealer when I bouhght it from stock so they were free Whistle )

She did suggest the side steps, not because of the dirty sills but because vertically challenged. Whistle They are a Censored to fit though, as you need a special tool to 'bell' the nuts into the frame. That bit is only 5 minutes for LR with the right tool, but do LR charge a full hour or part of an hour? Then, it's another item that needs washed so cleaning time will be 5 - 6 hours instead of 4 - 5 hours.
Mud flaps would be the quick and easy option... Out with the old (2007 SE)

Mud flaps do not help with the problem of spray on the back window. Flaps are a bit of help but not as good as steps would be regards mud spray along the sides. I had steps on my Trooper and the were good at helping protect the sides of the vehicle as well. The mud flaps on as on my FL 2 are not the answer to you problem.

Thought they were about £35 a pair, not sure how much the stealer will charge to fit them though. ______________________

My caravan still gets mud over the front of it when being towed by my FL2 with mud flaps on. Sad
