Insurance Cost Increase!!!

How much is anyone else paying for their inurance on their FL2 and with what company?

I've just had my renewal notice come through and it's 535 PA. That's an increase of 120 in a year. Shocked I've done a few other quotes and they all seem to be in that region. Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

April 2010 - Zurich Solutions Insurance - on line - 125 quid fully comp, courtesy car, legal protection, with just the compulsory 150 quid excess. It was 105, but I added fancy alloys, so they put it up 20 quid.

I'm paying £530 with LRI

They wanted more but I kicked off as they had added a fault claim and lost my points Shocked

They handled it great and agreed the price and that it would not increase even when I moved Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Frankly guys I could not believe the deal I got. My 55 plate FL1 basic model was about £550 with only the 1 year no claim bonus. I bought my new FL2 (list price approx £25k) in April and cos I already paid up for the year back in October 09 I knew they would want a fee for the new car. ONLY £20! Laughing Thumbs Up

So in theory my renewal in October with another years NCB to add should bring it down nicely again.

Thanks for the replies Thumbs Up

It's interesting to compare notes. I don't understand how there's such a huge difference in prices. I've been driving for 19 years and have 13 years NCD, no driving convictions and I'm an advanced driver.

Zurich want 1200 to insure me WTF Shocked Shocked Shocked

I'm going to have to do some serious shopping around. I found one for 475 will all the trimmings, but it's still a rip off Big Cry Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

Insurance costs depend on many things, postcode, claims history etc. It pays to tart around on some price comparison web sites, even if you then access the insurer of your choice direct after that.

Zuirch were unbelievably cheap at 125 for me and yes, it's NCD protected for life. I did wonder if it was a glitch and as soon as I phoned them up to add fancy alloys, it would shoot thro' the roof, but no it didn't only 20 quid extra and thats an admin fee. I then double checked the schedule and everything was there in black and white. I dont doubt they will double next year as they have done when I insured with them in the past.

As for the guy with the old FL1 upgraded to FL2, then it's normal. When you think about it, the FL1 was just as liable as the FL2, to hit a Rolls Royce and a Pedestrian. The value of the old car compared to the new doesn't play a major part.

Neither does being an Advanced Driver as I found out. I now don't disclose it. As one condecending Cop put it, 'well meaning amatures.' Sums it up really.

Well philsh you must get a quote from churchill not just based on my above post. When I wrote off a ford focus 05 plate I had in 2006 (only me involved, probably blow out) I had crashed through a hedge at 50ish, flew through the air and then landed in another hedge causing me some whiplash and a few scratches only. The cops could not believe the car did not roll. Anyway, churchill sent a bloke around in a couple of days and they assessed it and promptly coughed up £8k. Not much shy of what I bought it for approx 4 months earlier. No hassle, no excuses about not paying up and the call centre was not in Azerbaijan Laughing

I have not changed insurance since. Churchill are very good on price too Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

do a comparison online in ALL comparison sites (it will take you 30 minutes for all three or four of them) and then get an online quote of the companies not on them (direct line and aviva I think). then call your current insurer, quote the cheapest number you got (even if it is not 100% like for like, tell them it is) and watch them reduce your premium not in one, but on two or even three occasions after they 'speak to a supervisor' during the same call.
