Help! New buyer dilemma - SE or HSE

Hi everyone, great forum!

About to join the fold and buy my first Land Rover. Need some help figuring out which car to buy.

Vehicle One
2009 Silver TD4 HSE 8000Kms 18" wheels, Alpine ICE $53k
Pros: HSE fruit, Xenons, Front Sensors, Mem And Heated Seats
Cons: Ugly wheels (hard to change?), 09 build, No style pack, so-so Colour, more expensive.

Vehicle Two
2010 Largo Grey TD4 SE 9000kms Style pack Inc 19" wheels and roof spoiler $47k
Pros: Style pack, 19" wheels and roof spoiler, nicer Colour blends better with bottom unpainted panels, 2010 build
Cons: No xenons (retrofit?), no memory seats (wife's primary driver), basic features.

Would it be easier and cheaper to buy the HSE and change the wheels or would it be cheaper to get the SE and retrofit the xenons?

Thanks in advance, all comments welcome.

Alfa,
Perth.

either,,, you could buy the SE and retro fit xenons easily enough,, OR you could buy the HSE, change the wheels and sell the others,,

personally,, i'd go with the SE and get the colour YOU want..

I'd go for the SE. It's already got the style pack which is enough. Just get after market Xenons for less than $500. Or just spend a few bucks for bulbs with bright white light.

Note: on my 2009 HSE, it doesn't come with heated seats. Plus, I think $53k is too much. I bought mine July last year, demo, 3000kms for $55k. A 8000kms 09 should be no more than $50k on the present market.

Ok thanks for the input everyone. Seems like that HSE is out. What about SI6 vs TD4 both MY10?

Walked away from a car today after spending a few hours at the dealers.

New black SI6 SE with Almond interior with style pack. I wanted to pay 53k, dealer didn't want to budge at 54700. Was that a good price?

Hi Welcome

Not really a good price in Melbourne with this price you can gete a 2010 Si6 HSE with style pack.

I got mine three month ago in Melbourne Land Rover 2010 Si6 HSE brand new

Apline ICE
Sunroof
Tech Pack (Sat Nav)
Memory Seat
Style Pack
Xenon

$ 54,980 on Road with Carpet, Full tank of petrol and window tinting Mr. Green

This price is very hard to beat because the sunroof and tech pack alone cost around $12,000

When I ask the dealer about this car even he think is a misprint

Also one thing you need to look out for is the electric seat, with the older model the height adjustment only rise the back half of the seat not the front, 100% on MY08 only rise the back but not sure about MY09.

Both front half and back half can adjust the rise on MY10

That's a great deal OVO, which dealer did you get it from? With my MY09, only the back half of the seat adjusts, which is very annoying and I need some under thigh support.

A7FA, deciding between the petrol or diesel, fuel comsumption is the main factor. If it isn't an issue, then go for the petrol. It drives much smoother and quieter, and is faster and a better sound track Very Happy

As Huang mention if fuel comsumption is not important go for the Si6, on my car is averaging aroung 18 lts per 100 km with mix city and highway.

I got mine in MLR (Melbourne City Land Rover) in Dockland. MLR.com.au

When I saw this car on their website I thought is a misprint, because they list similar car with the same price but with no Tech pack and sunroof. I thought I might go there and ask it turn out is ture, even the salesman double check with the stock control officer for the price and stock number.

In less than five minutes the deal is done with free carpert, window tinting and full tank of petrol.

Cool! I got mine at Doncaster LR. Pretty good sales and service there. Have you had your first service yet? I wonder how much they charge you there, mine was around $480.

Hey A7FA,

I got my Freel2 from the osborne park dealer, however, 18months later when my friends went to buy theirs, osborne park were not very flexible on price, they ended up buying from the Landrover dealer in Albany, the dealer there was apparently easy to deal with, and its a easy trip down to pick up a car from Albany.

Also, I have the HSE, and when I go ta SE as a loan car for a day when mine was getting serviced I missed the HSE, sound system makes a huge difference, I have the diesel, I average around 10L around town.

Hope this helps

Also, if two people are going to drive the car, memory seats with memory mirrors are a life-saver, im not sure if the SE has this.
