Which iPod have you got? If you have an iPod video (3rd generation I think) Apple changed the spec on the AV lead so that the old trick of plugging the cable into the headphone socket and swapping the video and sound cables over let you use an OEM cable to play video no longer worked.

Have a look at this http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1454

I got stung when I got a new 160 Gb iPod. I had to go and buy a new cable so that the kids could still watch films in the car Evil or Very Mad

Long story short, I think you need to buy a new cable. Big Cry Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

I've had no problems when I moved from ipod to iphone. Can you play music from the iphone if you connect it to the aux input of the car?

edit: It was a touch though. Phil

My new iPhone 4 doesnt play videos on its own screen when plugged into the aux socket, though my 3GS (previous OS) did. Looks like Apple changed the spec, either on hardware or software OS version. Confused Chris
