Nightfox, what's wrong with a Fiesta ? (my wife drives one)

It belongs to Ford as well you know...

Mr. Green

About £20,000 if my maths is correct.

Rolling with laughter

Sorry I couldn't resist. Since my FL2 and my wife's Fiesta are parked side by side in the garage, the difference is quite remarkable...

In your position I would be very Censored of as well !

Or possibly come down to Greece for a trip to LR North. I'm sure they'll sort this out soon! And we'll have a chance to meet. Very Happy

Hi,

Why point out to them that one of the reasons that you bought a freelander was to make use of it's off road capability, and would they be happy if you used the Fiesta off road .........

Regards

I thought of turning up at an off-roading day, and from there e-mailing them a photo of the Fiesta lined up in amongst a line of LRs waiting to go, then phoning them and saying "check your e-mail, suckers...."

Take a picture of the fiesta on a grass verge, but hold the camera at 45 degrees when you take the picture, to give them impression your on a steeps slope.

You could always have somebody leaning on the car to give a better inpression.

(Think Batman & Robin climbing up a building on the 60's TV show)

Well, just called the dealer for an update. Seems that the issue is that the battery is fine, there's just no power getting into the car. They've done all the testing the LR Technical have asked them to, though this has been limited as without any power it won't communicate with Testbook. LR Tech have asked them to do a complete dump of the diagnostics and send it off to them, which they tell me they have now done. They expect LR Tech to come back to them "hopefully by the end of today".

I've told them verbally that if this isn't resolved by Friday I will look at rejecting the vehicle. Hopefully it won't come to that, but now I'm going to write a letter to the dealer principal advising him of my intentions.

Well, it's now going to be tomorrow before LR finish analysing the diagnostics, so we'll see what they say then. At least I've now got the Dealer Principal on the case.

Just to mention on a slight tangent of 'buy backs', nipped into my dealer today to collect the new tax disc for my old plate transfer and pick up the black rubber mats, but noticed my old motor on the forecourt.....2.2 TD4 HSE diesel Stornaway with a few additional options...on the road new was £33K now up for £26K after 8 months!!

Just had a courteous and apologetic phone call from the Dealer Principal. It would appear that when they connected up the diagnostic equipment to my vehicle to try to work out why the sunroof wasn't working, it shut down the entire electronics and nothing will get them running again. It's a rare incident, though they've experienced it some time ago on a couple of Discos. LR Technical are currently writing some software to try to "wake up" the electronics, but I'm told this will be a bit trial and error and may take a few attempts/re-writes. In the mean time, they've offered me a FL2 for as long as it takes, and even offered to bring it down to London to exchange it with the Fiesta.

So now that I feel like the dealer does care, that there's an actual plan, and that I'm being kept in the picture, I'm much happier (though not forgetting the fact that my FL2 is still off the road!). I'm still not dismissing the option of rejecting the vehicle, but at least now I'm willing to see if LR's software fixes it.

I've now gone from Evil or Very Mad to Neutral

Glad to hear it NightFox, such a shame that they have to 'press your buttons' before they get their service/customer care to the right level. Hope it all works out .... Thumbs Up

Yes, the stress-free relief of driving a car you couldn't give a toss about whether someone cuts you up at a roundabout, nicks it, or keys it.

If this was a Ford advert I'd now be saying "Hey, you know what, I have to admit that this Fiesta is actually a pretty good car after all". But it isn't an advert and the Fiesta remains a crock of Censored. IMHO.
