How can prices for basically the same thing be so different? Incidentally independant quoted £275.

I have just been quoted £462 for the second service by Lookers in Bishops Stortford, a mate had his second service done in King's lynn before Christmas and was charged £417, he phoned them to check the price & said what I had been quoted & they said they would service mine for the same price as my mates,
so might be going for a ride,
does anyone know of an LR independent near Stansted Airport ???

I was quoted £498 by Lloyds LR in Carlisie however Team Valley are doing it for £296 on Tuesday how can some dealers justify their charges Fuji White GS 12 privacy glass leather retrim

Had the 2nd service done 2 days ago at Guy Salmon Stockport for £290. last year had it's 1st service for free and I can't fault the service you get from the service team Helen & Martin.

Just a note Guy Salmon in Leeds now owned by Farnells (Sunwin motor group) so not much choice locally as they (three branches) all charge same. Eventually there won't be any dealers to play off against round my way!!

They tell me when asked that they take off the road wheels to check the brakes - now lets see if they do!!  There's always a way forward!

Im new on here but i wish i had found you sooner.
Ive just had my 2008 FL2 in for its 2year / 30 K service done at Lakeland Landrover for £439.00.

Im gutted the robbing gits quoted me £350 but then charged an hours labour when i asked them to adjust the handbrake and then 'cleaned and checked' each disc.

Can someone please tell me where the pollen filter as i want to check its been changed ??????

and they charged £5.00 for sundries and £4.60 for windscreen wash which I filled up the day before the service ????????

I mentioned this elsewhere, but more suitable here.
My Freelander was due its 2 year service. I found the cost at a local specialist was about £220 all in. They also said the parts came in at under £90 and the service was 2.1 hrs. Armed with this, rang the local main dealer who quoted me £398. When I said I could get it done much cheaper at an independent, she came down to £300. When I said this was still well short she came down to £250 all in.
If you don't ask, you don't get! More to the point, since when does £90 + 2.1hrs = £398 in the first place?
Incidentally, they adjusted the handbrake too - my wife had a real problem setting it. No extra charge...
