New to LR2 (interior question?)

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Just got our LR2 yesterday and are very happy with it. I had been looking on the board for the last few weeks trying to decide if we were making a good decision. All the posts certainly helped me feel confident about our final decision.

First Question:
So I was looking online at the floor mates for sale form Land Rover for over $100. The dealer didn't have any in stock for me to look at, but can anyone convince me why I need to spend that kind of money for the Land Rover logo on the floor mat? Is there a magic element to them that I'm not aware of? Thanks in advance. Look forward to asking many questions in the future.

Welcome Thumbs Up

Nothing special about a set of LR Mats, though they do have a hole so the plastic thing in the footwell keeps them in place. And a LR Logo to make them more expensive.

Bought a complete set of black carpet mats from Lidl (for under £6 I think) some time ago selecting the best shape for the drivers side. They didn't do one specifically for the FL2. Using a 1/2 inch brass eyelet punch and die kit (cost about £6 with 15 brass eyelets) I made a brass lined hole to latch onto the floor peg. In some ways the mat is better than the LR one in sofar as it provides more protection for the fixed carpet by covering a larger area. Only thing to watch is that the mat does not restrict the downward movement of the pedals but there seems to be plenty of room. Of coarse you don't get the LR badge. This way I can cheaply replace just the drivers side mat whilst keeping the original genuine LR mat for when the car is sold on.

You don't NEED the LR mats, but they are actually very high quality. I've used LR mats in all my rovers for years and they've always held up exceptionally well.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I'll end up dropping the coin, because like one of you said, "You paid a lot for the truck, don't cheap out".

You feel free to call it a car and I'll call it what it is.

when I bought my HSE it came fitted with LR carpet mats, the dealer also threw in a set of LR rubber mats which I use in the winter. ( great for when it's snowing )

if my LR carpet mats need replaced ( usually the driver side goes first ) I will buy LR carpet mats and would never in a month of Sundays dream of buying a £6 set of mats !!

maybe it's just me ??

The rubber mats are excellent. I was able to get the dealer to throw them in for free - I think they are around $200, definitely worth the money though. When they get dirty, take them out, hose them off, and they look brand new.
