I had a Mondeo with manual Air Con. After the winter and not using it for a while it always smelt musty for about the first week of using it again. I spoke to an air con engineer. (we had a firm that used to work just down the road from us) He said that when you stop using it, the condensation stagnates in the system and that smells. Once you start using it again it flushes everything through.

Tim4848, No the smell was not like antiseptic, it was almost toxic in that it actually affected our breathing for hours afterwards. The good news is that the spray or conditioner? seems to be working as the residual smell is getting less. I think i will go back to having the aircon on all the time as others have suggested. |

I have always been told by other manufactors dealers that air con needs to be used regularly, at least once a month, or else the seals dry out and the gas will leak out when you try to use it. I always left mine on in my previous FL2 and never had any problems. |
