Have been told by the dealer that it needed a software upgrade in order to resolve the throttle response problem. Me of little faith...will see.

The software upgrade did nothing. Land Rover customer services advised me to pay for the extended warranty.

Ask them how you stand on a on going problem?

I read a claim was turned down due to it been ongoing when somebody claimed on his warranty as it was a prexisting fault, not sure if it was LRW though Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Valeter - it won't be that as it's only (as far as I know) on manual cars. Auto boxes are designed to change gear under full power. I think. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I did some tests and measurements.

When the battery light comes on, the voltage is 12.3/4 Volts - normally it is 13.5-13.7 Volts.

I measured this with my multi meter.

Then I took the car to a garage whom hooked up their scan tool and it confirmed my measurements. No faults is shown on the scan tool.

Next we hooked up the Bosch test machine and again, no faults is shown other that a seat belt tensioner.

We even had the idling reset to be sure it is high enough.

Has anyone been able to solve this problem?

I've reviving a very old thread here, but I have the exact same issue.

Very intermittent (happened twice in the past month) - vehicle is started, engage drive, battery warning light comes on and throttle completely unresponsive.

It happened to me again this morning. I went back to neutral, engaged drive again, battery warning light immediately went off and throttle worked.

Battery voltages seem fine, both with engine off and running on alternator charge.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

Hi Garry,

No solution yet but had it scanned and those results has been sent to Scantool in the Uk. All they could see was a temp sensor on the engine that is not functioning correctly. Somewhere on front of the engine, more towards the gearbox is what I understood.

I have not had time to attend to this yet.

It seems that we have resolved the issue at last!!!

The how past is still a mystery and I can't work it out yet.

The car had a very faint whistle noisy, especially on a cold morning if you just quickly touched the accelerator right after start up. Over time it got worse up-to the point where there was a permanent whistle from the turbo - not the usual turbo whistle, a much higher pitch.

My indie supplied me an old turbo which I had reconneditioned and had a bigger core installed whilst we where busy. The indie then fitted the turbo and the old girl is quiet again and pulls like a steam train again. And the start-up issue is gone.

Any idea why a turbo replacement would sort what I thought was an electronic issue?

The no-response to throttle was really common on earlier 2.2 mondeo's and transits TDCI's with the same engine - indeed it is a failure for the ECU to switch from start to run mapping due to the idle rpm threshold being set too tight when there is a large drag on the engine from either alternator load or very cold thick engine oil. i.e. start up map runs to 700rpm, run map is 750+rpm. If the engine lands in that 50rpm intermediate zone the throttle is still disabled...

They must have updated tens of thousands.

So don't let LR fob you off, its well known.

does anyone know if LR would apply the software update to a 10 plate car now?
Lot of good info on this thread.
Same problem.
Car was in Taggarts two weeks ago on the LR offer whjich was supposed to include a software update.

Will phone Taggarts tomorrow and come back with their answer.

Spoke to Taggants today. The girl on service desk, Lynn, very helpful.
Car should have had all updates when in for recent LR service offer.
She checked through some programmes they have and according to Taggarts all updates to the car have been done.
Said she would phone back. When she phoned she had double checked with the technician that all updates had been done.
Also said he thinks it could maybe be an EGR valve sticking.
Does this sound a possibility.? Will be going out tomorrow and see if it happens again. Jim A

EGR - no. It will be spluttering and smoking black but would rev alittle.

No response and a low idle is the software issue.

Put auto into N , turn a/c off and see if idle raises up to normal 850rpm. At that point you will have throttle response.
