Isn't that something to do with main dealers and the cars having a higher resale value. My buddy is the Sales manager of an Fiat / Alfa dealership. When I was selling my Forester I got a CAP valuation for my car and it was £14600.00. The Subaru dealer offered me £ 17000.00. I think that main dealers are able to offer more as they have a greater resale value. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again... |

I didn't think the £18250 offer seemed too bad, for a dealer, until I just had a quick look at the approved used. Wow! they are holding their price right now aren't they! So then I looked at what they selling mine for just out of interest - XS Auto Stornaway - and some of the nearly year old approved used are pennies, literally pennies, cheaper than I paid brand new 3 ish weeks ago. Used prices certainly are buoyant... |

The dealer who offered £18250 has for sale the very same car as mine advertised for £20995 and it has more miles and 17" wheels. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys |

My car has just had 4 new tyres, service 3 months ago and still under warranty until december 20th.He would just valet the car and sell it.Then he will do the same with a part exchange and probably make £5000 on the deals.Thats why they have those fantastic showrooms. You keep logging on here and saying how hard done by you are by selling the car to a dealer and what you are been offered, have you tried to sell it private for what you are wanting and not what a dealer is wanting to pay for it.? A dealer does have overheads, such as show rooms, that's a requirement normally of been a LR franchise, they'll still needs to do inspections to check the vehicle road worthiness, I'm not sure but would they still get a full years warranty, normal until December then approved used till what ever time next year, At a cost to a dealer. The purchasers might also want to have certain marks or scuffs sorted that you might be happy with, but buying a car might not be another expense to the dealer You might lose even more come december as you wont have any warranty left so a private buyer may prefer to go to the dealer and and get an approved one, with comeback to the dealer if things aint right Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

As with most things, it's worth what somebody wants to pay for it, The dealer is offering such a price because he knows it will sell at a profit and he has limited stock of used AND new cars, If he had 30 used vehicles sat on his forecourt he would be offering below cap/Glass's price.

Dear Bone, I have Had the car from new ! Just making the point that some dealers offer nearly £2000 less than others and tell you that the price is correct. How many people take the first offer from the dealer trusting them to give the correct price. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys |
