Scotland 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Lago Grey

I wouldn't be messed about with this nonsense, get your deposit back and go to another dealer, or look at something other than Landrover.

this is unacceptable customer service and this is even before you take delivery of the car !!

Thats terrible! Like others have said if you have paid a deposit you (and them!!!) have entered into contract for the vehicle, if you pulled out you would lose your deposit so what do they lose if they pull out by selling the vehicle to someone else, besides their knackers, forecourt windows and undented and unscratched stock outside?? That doesn't sound like good customer care, was there an order form involved? We would love to help (as we're only just down the road / M40 Whistle ) however the next GS would come through at the end of May.

I did swap in a Freelander for another forum member who wasn't able to go ahead (he had a similar situation elsewhere - think there is a thread running). This may be of interest to you, and is currently available for registration this month. It is an XS TD4_e in Stornoway Grey with a Style Pack (19" wheels, Spolier & Alcantara Seat Inserts).

Hope you manage to sort something out, and if you need anything then drop me a PM.

James Thumbs Up

Surely you would have an order form filled out when you paid your deposit, detailing the car and its cost, minus your deposit? especially if it physically existed in the showroom? Phil

Not nessesarily Phil

We saw a car at the local dealers on a Sunday lunch time, they don't open sundays Surprised
Rang them Monday morning and paid the £500 deposit "for the orange Freelander on the forcourt" by creditcard.

Called in on Wednesday to arrange finance, part exchange etc.
Never discussed discount, just paid the price on the windscreen, took delivery a week later.

Dealer seemed happy, I was. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I have come to the conclusion that Landrovers customer service is generally crap though no worse than most manufacturers to be honest & from LR's point of view Freelander buyers are the poverty car buyers who can't afford a decent Land or Range Rover.
LR customer Relations are full of hot air (my experience anyway) I also recon the vehicle its self is over rated, over priced & under specd. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I agree I did & also agree that someone would have had a comment lol.
There are a couple of things with mine that are making me want rid of the vehicle to be honest - fuel consumption & the silly sensor thing on the throttle, these are very irritating and relight my issue with some of the spec on the car! I was really enthusiastic when going through the buying proceedure but have to admit have lost all interest in it. I have bought several new cars (all Rover or MG though & a FL1) & have never had this lack of interest in any of them. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

When you are driving on a road that allows more speed like a dual carrigeway etc & you are changing up the gears (manual) once you have dipped the clutch & engaged the next gear (say 2nd to 3rd) just as you take your foot off the clutch & step on the accelerator there is a hesitation as though the fuel flow is cut for a brief second & the vehicle pulls back. Not only is this very annoying but I think dangerous as you think you can get a quick move on & the damn thing hesitates.
It has been to two branches of the same dealer twice & they said nothing wrong & there was a post on this site the other day & someone said there is a sensor on the clutch to ensure smooth gear changes by reducing throttle responce/fuel flow for a split second when changing gears though I'm not sure if this is 100% correct.

The only time the fuel consumption has gone over 30 MPG is when it was at the dealer last time & they reset the trip & it is back down to 29.8 though better than the 26.8 before they reset it 3 weeks ago. From these two points it makes me hate driving the thing & want shot of it asap. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

It sounds v annoying! Only done a couple thous in manual but didn't notice it and feel sure I would have. Got auto now so can't test it out. Have you driven another one to see if it's the same? Don't sound right to me, must drive you nuts

It didn't do it on the manual FL2 they lent me when they looked at mine the 1st time & in all the years I have been driving cars, vans, busses, lorries & coaches I have never had this sensation & it is driving me nuts as I just can't see this being the norm & I recon this is linked to the crappy fuel consumption. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
