Just a thought but it's not over filled with oil is it? on some turbo cars the oil vapour can blow-by and cause this exact symptom as the turbo spins up and kicks in. I should add that diesel is a mystery to me, but I think this would be the same as petrol car that I'm more familiar with

EV - For info, I don't get the hesitation problem with my FL2 manual (not that I notice anyway).

Never checked the oil to be honest but I get the impression that there is an issue with the vehicle & that it isn't me imagining it. I hate driving it if I were being honest. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Exec Valeter..That dosent sound very good at all and even more so if the dealer dosent seem to be genuinely trying to check it and get it working right...You shouldnt have that with a new car!

Spoke to LR customer relations this morning & they said they can't do anything unless the dealer faults it lol.

It is something you get used to but I know it does it & it annoys me though another driver may not notice it as much or in the dealers case at all! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

When you are driving on a road that allows more speed like a dual carrigeway etc & you are changing up the gears (manual) once you have dipped the clutch & engaged the next gear (say 2nd to 3rd) just as you take your foot off the clutch & step on the accelerator there is a hesitation as though the fuel flow is cut for a brief second & the vehicle pulls back. Not only is this very annoying but I think dangerous as you think you can get a quick move on & the damn thing hesitates.
It has been to two branches of the same dealer twice & they said nothing wrong & there was a post on this site the other day & someone said there is a sensor on the clutch to ensure smooth gear changes by reducing throttle responce/fuel flow for a split second when changing gears though I'm not sure if this is 100% correct.

The only time the fuel consumption has gone over 30 MPG is when it was at the dealer last time & they reset the trip & it is back down to 29.8 though better than the 26.8 before they reset it 3 weeks ago. From these two points it makes me hate driving the thing & want shot of it asap.

Can you replicate it on demand? If not it is very likely to be a software problem and unless it happens when there is someone in the car, "they" won't do anything about it as the ECU doesn't tell them anything. Had a software glitch on my Forester. Problem with that it would go into limp home mode under hard acceleration in 3rd gear. (Tended to be as you were just nipping into a small gap and then the car slowed to about 30mph with the bloke in the car asking how many coffee beans he had in his hand) In the end I took the car back to the dealer after it happened joining the A14 with the wife and kids in the car. Walked in, chucked the keys and said to the salesman, "you have it" and walked out. He called me up on my mobile, drove the car for about 3 days after giving me a loan car and it happened to him. Never did get to the bottom of it in fact. He contacted me after I got rid advising that Subaru had released an ECU upgrade to fix an "intermittent acceleration issue"

Long story short. Give the car to them and tell them to find out what is wrong with it. ("We've checked there is nothing wrong") Let them keep it for a week and drive it, hopefully the issue will reappear... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Sounds like a good idea. I often tend to make more of an issue about something when trying to get good customer service.
I did make the sugestion that I could bring it to the factory & set fire to it & post it on Youtube!! I have a tendancy I'm afraid to get annoyed with niggly things that probably wouldn't bother most people - still there is a warranty so that in its-self is good enough cos at least I havn't got to pay out other than losing work/valeting time. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

EV - have you tried taking it to a different dealer? When I had the annoying knocking noise after having mine the first dealer had 3 attempts and gave up so i contacted the Service Manager at another asking for help - he couldnt wait to get his hands on it to put the competition in their place, granted it took 2 x 5 days visits to sort but it was done in the end!

I went down the LR Customer Support route - waste of a phone call.

I was also considering vehicle suicide, although not torching it, just accidently leaving the window down with the key in but in the end it got sorted (albeit took 9 months!) and can finally enjoy the driving experience.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Santorini Black

Hi All

Thought i'd report back on where i've got to in relation to the purchase of a Freelander (which has become hard work to say the least!). i'm not convinced the stealers understand the whole concept of customer service and the basic notion of getting back to people!

i've finally tracked down and purchased a FL2 XS in black (no other extras), managed to squeeze a discount and hold a good price for the p/x too. I know cars are in short supply right now, but i feel like i've run a two week long marathon to spend my cash on LR product. Just trying to confirm a deliver date before April1 now. I'm pleased to get an XS, as they seem very few and far between in the dealer network - with people quoting all sorts of next delivery dates in late May.

Looking at some of these posts, i'm hoping to avoid a Friday afternoon car situation, otherwise my blood pressure won't hold out - the buying experience was wearing enough. My partner only does 10,000mls per annum, so the car ain't gonna work hard for a living, but we do want to keep it 3yrs.

I'll post some pics when we're in possession of said vehicle.

Cheers
(still deciding if we should have a) privacy film applied b) rosen dvd conversion on passenger headrest - for the little 1) 2010 LR Freelander2 XS TD4_e Manual - Santorini Black (family car for the misses)

Glad you have finished been Eddie Izzard and running round, all been well everything will pan out OK Thumbs Up

I have the rosen DVD head rest, best thing ever to keep the kids (and occassional adults) entertained on trips

Speak with site sponsor 10forcash (by email) to get a price for them fitting as i believe he does this too

Privacy film or glass, I like on the FL2 especially if you have kids as it keeps the rear a little cooler, and would also keep out prying eyes from looking whats on the back seat, or rear head rest if you get the rosen's installed Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've noticed this, but have been blaming myself as the clutch bite is very high ( in my opinion ) and I thought that I was not releasing the clutch fully.

I read the post and went out for a spin and sadly i notice it now too. Very subtle and not an issue for me but can totally understand why it would annoy some. I only test drove the auto so never experienced it previous- my fault. However I still think it is a great smooth drive and when you do apply the power there is plenty there to tear past them Sunday drivers!

New delivery date agreed

Agreed to collect the FL2 XS next Wednesday - not gonna take the dealer of £450 for privacy film to be applied (where do they make these prices up from?), our fleet manager at work has got one of our supplier to do the work when the company are next on-site £100all in - result!

I've been thinking of getting a Tracker fitted to the car, Tracker Horizon is ava for £195 fitted these days - which is cheaper than when we had our SLK done.

Before we got Censored about by the stealer, i brought a new spare GS / tyre off ebay - reckon i'll chuck it in the spare wheel space, i know its the wrong wheel but at least the same size - better than a blow-up kit i guess!.

Anyways, will make sure we pile some miles on the px this weekend and run it right down on fuel too - lol!

I'll let you know if the stealer experience improves here on in., and of course introduce the new member to the family next week.

Definately gonna go for the Rosen DVD install
