I can understand the logic from the insurers point of view that a bodykitted HSE wouuld be more appealing to thieving tossers rather than a standard HSE thus should cost more to insure, however I dont understand why Joe Bloggs in his HST parked next to me (identical in everyway with better alloys!) should pay LESS to insure his?

There are some benefits of getting old - SAGA have just insured me comprehensive with protected NCB, £100 excess for the princely sum of £192.46 MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

That's the way I understood it, I asked at the time when I insured and they said so long as it was a dealer / LR option then it would be fine. On the other hand if it was a non standard aftermarket item then watch it sky rocket (I worked in Insurance for around 10 years some time ago) and if the vehicle was modified from the makers standard specification you would have to go through all manner of hoops and hurdles just to get a quote.
