It's because your HSE will now be classed as "modified". Any modified car will generally be more expensive to insure as it will become more appealing to robbing scrotes.

Shoudn't make any difference if they are factory or dealer fit accessories - i.e genuine LR accessories. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

I can understand the logic from the insurers point of view that a bodykitted HSE wouuld be more appealing to thieving tossers rather than a standard HSE thus should cost more to insure, however I dont understand why Joe Bloggs in his HST parked next to me (identical in everyway with better alloys!) should pay LESS to insure his?

Best to come clean with insurers as they only need the slightest excuse to worm their way out of a claim.

That's the way I understood it, I asked at the time when I insured and they said so long as it was a dealer / LR option then it would be fine.

On the other hand if it was a non standard aftermarket item then watch it sky rocket (I worked in Insurance for around 10 years some time ago) and if the vehicle was modified from the makers standard specification you would have to go through all manner of hoops and hurdles just to get a quote.

Regards

Nick
