Yes, you can 'hear' and 'feel' it applying the brakes...maybe you weren't travelling fast enough? I think I read that you can control the speed of descent too, with the cruise control controls Phil |

Yep I was off brakes, I accelerated then eased off to try and get it to free wheel down a track today hoping to hear the abs kicking in like how it use to in my old fl but to be honest it didnt feel much different whether it was on or off ?? definately there was zero noise when in use but Ive never had it working on this motor so I dont know if thats right or not.

You should be travelling under 80 km/h for it to kick in. So try it at a steep hill with a slow speed. You should also see the green light on the dash if it's working. 2010 Freelander 2 Select TD4 auto....gone

Has to be in 1st gear too (or 2nd as well?)...not sure if a decline is required, or whether it will still work on flat road. Phil |

it needs to be a really steep incline for it to kick in, as engine braking alone will hold the car back on a normal slope.

I was out laning last Sunday, certainly heard it locking/skidding on wheels as necessary. Sounds quite disconcerting if you are not ready for it, but unmissable. I was on about a 25-30 degree slope, chalk / gravel mix. 1st gear only.
