LED daytime running lights

I want to put some of (IMO) natty LED DRL strips in my headlights. Leaving aside the debate of whether or not it looks good etc, does anyone know how I seperate the plastic lens cover from the headlight body?

I am assuming a bit of heat will make the glue pliable (think debadging) and I can prise them apart. I would like to know before I buy to assess the feasability, since most of the kits say we will tell you how to do it, once you have purchased.

Any help gratefully received, and promise to post results once completed. Very Happy Thumbs Up Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

another option would be to wait till the next model comes out and buy replacement headlights, if they are the same shape as there are required to have daytime running lights by law soon Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I've done the oven trick on my previous car, far too much hassle...agree with npinks and wait to see what LR come up with next. If it follows the updated brothers, then it will be LEDs wrapping around the main bulbs. Phil

The advice I get from the RR3 site is 200c for 3mins in the oven, do you agree? Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

My 2008 model already has DRLs (presumably for markets like Scandinavia where they're already compulsory). Apparently they all have them, the dealer asked if I wanted them activated when I took delivery. It's one of the dealer-activated options, like the single-press door locking and so on.

However they're not LEDs, just a lower intensity illumination of the normal xenon headlight.

Sounds a bit risky to me...How many other delicate parts are you going to upset in the oven at that temp?! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Looks like the LEDs are actually outside the light units so maybe the LEDs can be taken off, but I have to agree dont suit the FL looks. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto
