I wouldn't go as far as saying it was a con Confused

If your talking trade in's, online, over the phone and an inspections are going to take place then, you would expect them to pick up every blemish and knock a bit off, its not like they are hiding the fact a inspections was going to take place. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Prices are on a par with what dealers are presently offering for part exchanges.

You would expect them to examine the car, as everyone else would do. That said, if it's perfect, they can't knock it can they.

I wouldn't condem thier business, they are only doing what dealers do. Shove on three to four thousand and flog it on.

As per my earlier post, what they initially offer appears a tactic to get you to the INSPECTION center, and whence you're there they use psychological staling tactics to make you accept an offer way under the true value of your vehicle, This was the gist of the Expose of a former employee.

What we need is an under cover forum member with a day to spare to go through the process and report back Thumbs Up

They offer far less than what dealers do and i love the what they say in there advert (Dealers dont want the hassle of a part ex). Yeh like thats true, what the heck do they expect us to sell then?

I work in a dealer and one of my colleagues son's works there and they often pull over £4000 profit per car.

Like I said in an earlier post I used them recently and found them reasonable.

I got £8000 from WBAC for the following car (valuation below taken from whatcar):-
Ford Mondeo Hatchback 2.2 TDCi ST 5dr 2006 (06) 34,000 miles
Dealer £8,570
Private £7,570
Part exchange £7,320
Trade £6,920
Cost new £22,427

At the end of the day when you go for the inspection if the price isn't right you don't have to sell to them and can just walk away!

How much was their original offer? £8000? and is that what they gave you?
Maybe the Inspectors are on commission based on how much they Knock you down?

£8350 online valuation. £8000 was the negotiated offer at the inspection due to some small stone chips to the bonnet and a scuffed alloy, although he did try a cheeky offer of £7800 initially. I just argued that a smart repair could sort out the problems he mentioned for a few pounds and we settled at £8k so sold it.
