Had to call Land Rover assistance this week. Car only 4 weeks old and it was making a horrible grating noise from the driver side front wheel. Phoned the number in the hand book, explained the problem and a technical engineer rang me back within 5 mins. Impressed with speedy response. Technician talked through what it could be but in the end he decided as the car was new and it could be problem with brakes he would send a AA man to have a look. Within 40 mins an AA turned up, took him for a drive to listen to the noise. Now the embarrassing bit , AA man get down by the wheel, pushes the back plate behind the brake disc and a stone falls out. . Problem solved. Me thinks I could have done that

Yes but it isn't cheap - you can add it as part of an extended warranty package. From recollection I don't think the cover is quite as extensive though |

Has anyone else had stones behind the disk, Should I contact the dealer? The gap between the disk and the back plate should not allow stones to get lodged behind it. Any technical wizards have an answer? ______________________

I had it last August just before I went on holiday. AA came out and removed it simple job and probably could have done it myself. |

They sound a lot better than BMW, when I owned a Bmw GS motorcycle which set me back over 10k I had to call them out after it would not start, anyway after a 3hr wait guy turns up in a X5 takes one look at the bike & tells me it will have to be recovered to a Bmw dealer as none of the BMW response guys have never been trained on bikes. What a mickey mouse outfit(BMW MOTORAD) I now am back riding a jap bike |
