Be careful how you plug the 13 pin in, you need to get into the habit of holding the flap with one hand and turning the plug with the other, after you have done it with one hand and skinned the back of your hand and thumb you get the habit.[/quote]

No don't he's already suffering - although if he smacked the other knee, maybe that would balance the pain Whistle

Rear parking sensors

Hello all,

I read on this thread that you have to get a dealer to tell the truck that it has a towbar on it, is this right? Got our FL2 a few weeks ago, went tofetch my trailer on Sunday to shift a boat, first thing I found was the 13 pin towbar electrics socket so had to get an adapter. Just tried towing for the first time and as I suspected the rear parking sensors don't shut up when in reverse.

I do a lot of tricky trailer reversing so they are going to drive me nuts if I can't shut them up. FL1 had a nice handy switch on the dash to turn them off. According to the manaul the car is supposed to"know" its got a trailer attached and disable the senros.

The towbar doesn't appear to be LR fitted so am I going to have to go to a dealer and get them to log on and change the settings. If so, any idea how much they will sting us to do that?

Any help would be much appricated. ____________________________

The light/reg plate bar for my cycle carrier has a 7 pin plug and needs an adapter to fit the dealer fitted 13pin socket on my FL2 and it triggers the trailer warning light on the dashboard and silences the reversing sensors. The same happens when I attach a small trailer with a 13 pin socket. I believe that later models than mine (an 07) with a correctly fitted towbar loom don’t need coding but I don’t know when that change took place.

My 2014 didn’t need any coding, it was fitted at a tow bar specialist with 13 pin electrics and an LR dedicated wiring loom, everything works ok with my caravan and car trailer in tow. 64 plate TD4 SE Santorini Black
