Please stop all the Censored . its Censored stupid now, As I admitted I've always been a wind up merchant but I like to think I always saw a line,(AndyC obviously disagrees Wink ). This new stuff is out of control, The whole anti chrome thing just went wild. I sympathise with EV Confused but I think/hope you will find I steered away from proper rudeness on in his case.

Yes I give a bit of banter , but I take it in return, I like to think this keeps the whole thing from becoming mundane. The whole CG wheels/poll thing in my mind was harmless fun, and I attempted to start new threads in the off topic area , to steer it out of the 'sensible' stuff.

Many of the regulars are guilty of 'over doing the silliness' recently, cant we draw a line and start again?

Pinky needs our support as without him the forum is over. I've met him and he is proper decent bloke and deserves a break on this.

Unless this all stops now then freel2 will either die or become a sanitised version of itself, where tyre wear and fuel consumption are the only things left to talk about, Maybe the once planned meet would be a good idea so we can put faces to names and learn each others humour limits a bit better.

On the whole most members enjoy an element of banter, this has been discussed before, I have in the past opened my mouth before putting my brain into gear, but I like to think less so than in the past Confused , long live the daft stuff, but in a nice way?

If I have properly offended anyone with any of my posts, then I would like take this chance to sincerely apologise. it was all 'meant' in jest.

Feel free to send me more booze. French red preferred, not that new world goop. Does your van have a well stocked cellar?

I shall quaff it whilst making encouraging comments about Mavs colour coding exploits Thumbs Up

Update, the door and wing bottom panels are now here, so going to pick them up tomorrow. But the rear bumper is on back order!

Could take up to a month to get it! Hopefully get an update when I go in tomorrow. Got a good deal on the new fully paintable rear bumper, £194 + VAT!

So everything should come in just under the £900 mark fully fitted and painted, including the whole front bumper being stripped and painted, so no more stone chips!

So thinking about it, thats about £1000 less than having the bodykit, and about £14500 cheaper than buying a brand new Freelander 2 HSE with the exact spec I have now!

One final question! Do I keep the HST grill or go for a standard grill again? Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

As some of you know, I was looking to fit the bodykit to the car. But I reckon this may not be the best way to go now. So I think I am going to buy new door panels and rear bumper and have them all colour coded like the 2010 model.

What do you think?

Probably just as cheap to go the bodykit route so long as your front bumper parts fit properly unlike mine!!

No it's not unfortunatly. Depending on where you go, your looking at between £1600 and £1950 for the bodykit supplied and fitted. If I fit it myself, your looking at about £1300 - £1400 just for the kit.

I have just ordered the door and wing panels, and they come to me at £174 inc VAT. So they will be painted first, painting will be approx £100 to £150. So that will be under £300 total to finish the doors.

I can get the new rear bumper for £199 + VAT, so your then talking about £250 of paint to do the rear bumper and re-do the standard front bumper.

So well under a thousand pounds. As we have a private plate on it, it will look just like a 2009/2010 model.

If a decent bodyshop is purely fitting the kit & not painting then it should not cost much more than £200 really as even the LR bodyshop local to me only charges £35 an hour + vat.

Once you have fitted an HST grill you can't go back as they fit differently - why I have no idea as that seems very daft! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Re: Opinions please.

If you fit the kit by the book, it should take no more than 4 hours. But £35 an hour from a LR bodyshop, thats very low.

But you can't fit the kit 'by the book' or it will start coming away after a period ot time. A lot more time needs to be spend bonding it on properly.

Even at your £200 labour, your still looking at around £1600 for a kit fitted. But don't want to go down that route now.

Regarding the grill, it's easy to go back. The HST grill is bonded/taped to the original grill panel. Simply take off the bumper, remove the complete grill unit which will have the HST grill fitted, then fit a new standard grill. Easy. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. All being well, I will be doing the side vents, front lower scuttle and rear bumper top with the new stainless steel items offered by LR Accessories.

I condsidered colour coding the side vents, but didn't think it would look right. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
