Installed the Sunroof version of bars myself last week on 1 day old FL2 so was a bit disturbed by having to cut 24mm holes in plactic roof trim |

Finally got my rails, fitted them in under 1 hour, fairly straightforward, you do worry about drilling a hole in the plastic, provided you use a piece of wood as a drill stand no problems. Looks great, and my wife even commented that the FL2 looks better with the rails! Added the Thule bars (775 feet and 769 square bars) as recommended by Thule, I am happy as Larry! |

How about the noise while driving? And any difference noticed in the fuel consumption? VW Tiguan or Freelander 2 that's the question... |

Without wishing to sound too negative, does anybody think the roof bars look out of proportion on Freelander 2. Firstly, the front part seems too high in comparison with the rest of the car. Secondly, why is the transverse bar required? We are always told that roof racks create extra drag and therefore increase fuel consumption. Both these design points will do exactly that as well as spoiling the classy looks of the vehicle. |

pmcg, I agree they do look really high. Been to the stealer today to see my replacement car which has the roof bars fitted and they do look really odd, much higher than I expected. I hope Land Rover will supply a 'step up' to help me reach my loads that i put on the roof. I think an oxygen tank may come in handy too as I am sure the air is very thin at those altitudes |

Yes, Carlfraz, I have the same experience: whistling like a bird at 40 and faster... |

all should take note... the LR2 loves to drive faster than 40, when you do, it whistles in utter happiness....its in the manual very small print I might add.. |

Fitted the roof rails and crossbars last week, took a little over an hour. Had the help of a friend, which definitely made it go more smoothly. Nothing too tricky though.

Just got my new roof rails (the sunroof version) which replaced the old ones (non-sunroof) given to me by mistake. Have not tried the car with the new ones yet. I will do tonight and let you know. The non-sunroof version was terrible. The whisling |

This is what I was affraid for when I asked the other day. Furthermore... the fuel economy may be worst after the installation of the roof rails. I suspect the crossbar is the one causing this phenomenon. |

I should stress that with my original XS (i.e. no sunroof) when I had the bars fitted I didn't notice any significant increase in noise or decrease in fuel consumption. Why are you so keen to start/join a list to complain when you don't even know if you'll have anything to complain about? |
