Rear screen connectivity system

As we all know there is an obvious flood of rear screen headrest sets on the market going very cheap.
I have just bagged myself a set for £200 and noticed the packing list is dated july 07, Not as popular as Landrover envisaged eh? No wonder they are £900 less than RRP.

Today I had my eBay bargain Ebony leather set fitted and have to say they are pretty good. Only one flaw I can see is that when you fit the link leads to play a DVD to both head rest screens the quality seems to degrade, but if played on one head rest the quality is perfect. Has anyone else had this or what are people finding to be the best video source?

Thanks

Who fitted them for ya? how long did it take and how much?
I had planned to fit them myself til I seen the instructions, I don't fancy taking the dash and centre console apart I'm bound to leave it imperfect-which would drive me mad.

Harwoods Basingstoke fitted them and did a perfect job too as usual. It took about three to four hours I think but they charged a fixed fee of about £250 as I am a regular Big Cry

Why do you need to take the dash apart what does it fit too there?

It's only the centre console that needs to come out. The tricky bit is the routing of the screen cables through the seat (just requires patience) but the rest is simple. My dislike is the angle of the screens, they point upwards too much. Phil

The diagram shows removal of the mesh thingy above the satnav/hole along with the centre console-as I'm heavy handed and impatient I don't fancy breaking any plastic clips etc and having a rattlle.

if memory serves, you only need to remove the centre console, and not the dash.
will also need to disconnect the handbreak cable.

Am about to start installing my 6 x DVD changer, so will update later

Amazing! your guide is a lot more user friendly than the Landrover instructions-still don't fancy fitting them my self though Whistle

Very Happy , I found the guide very useful.
fitted my LR headrest TV's in about 1 hour, apart from refitting the hand break cover - it got dark Sad
Must do that tomorrow.

1 thing I did totally different was to NOT fit the Audio / Video input module where LR sais, I removed the module from the cubby / housing, and fitted it under the passenger seat.
It seems stupid that you would pay LR £1100 + for TV's' only to have your centre console
cluttered up with ancient video and audio connectors.
Not to mention, they are almost certainly to be used 100% by the kids - mine would 'accidentally' destroy / kick
the connectors. VERY bad design, looks like an afterthought - designed and engineered somewhere where they dont even have electric let alone common sense.

I wanted mine to be out of site, and it is. Looks much better.

Now to look for a cheap video interceptor to connect a reversing camera ( for the wife !!) to the satNAG screen

Still looking for a DVD changer, had 1 on order but it has not arrived yet...... must chase vendor.
