2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Baltic Blue

1. High tech instrument panel, something cool looking instead of the green and old plastic instrument panel and radio. Something like the Audi Q5 would be nice.

2. Lower first gear

3. Higher ground clearance.

4. A decent cubby box, instead of that ugly hole between the front seats.

5. 5 year Warranty.

6. A better cover for the sunroofs, sunlight still comes inside, even when you dont want it.

7. A footrest.

8. A separate switch for headlight washers.

9. Electric tailgate.

Everything else is fine... xenons, boot size, haldex, air suspension... etc. I agree with "donīt fix what ainīt broken" 2008 Freelander 2 Td4 HSE Buckingham Blue

My main concern in buying another Freelander was reliability, so I would like the peace of mind and confidence of a 5 year warranty.

Boot space is small, even compared with some conventional cars. There is more depth but less height than Freelander 1. I could transport a fridge in FL1 but not in FL2. Rear seats sliding forwards would help. I would like a more serviceable covering in the boot that does not scratch easily.

Would like close assist on boot lid.

Would like a ski hatch.

Would like more ground clearance.

Would like economy mode on TR.

Lack of a lid on central console means that the i-pod/phone is left visible.

Would like to be able to input Ordnance Survey grid references on sat nav.

Fewer storage points than the old Freelander. I miss the small cubby hole to the right of the driver. This was ideal for holding the garage door remote control. The elasticated holder in the door pocket was ideal for holding securely a 2 litre carton of milk. This cannot be achieved in the Freelander 2.

With the light coloured carpet the driver footrest area becomes dirty. Rubber protection required. Come on it's a Land Rover, think muddy boots.

A more anthropometric design approach to position controls is required. Eg fog light switches, difficult to see the clock. Having to divert your eyes down to the radio is an inbuilt safety hazard.

Roof rails should be an integral part of the design as standard. The FL2 rails were designed as an afterthought resulting in a clumsy design and late delivery.

With regards to extra boot length.......are you satisfied with how the FL2 looks? or are you willing to sacrifice elongating the FL2 for the extra room?

Generally looks ok but the rear end needs to look more like a Landrover rather than a Ford!

both are not top of many peoples wish list. why make it a no cost option as people that dont want them would still be paying for them in the basic price? At work

Ireland 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

Some fine ideas being put forward but I'd hate to mess with the shape...

I definitely second Chris B's call for the "winter pack" to be made standard - and across all models, please.

Personally, I can't find too much wrong with this superb little car Thumbs Up but a couple of points that irritate me on a regular basis and which might be considered for the FL3 are:

1. The shape of the sun-visor which obscures the rear-view mirror when in use. (May not be an issue if you are shorter than 6 feet).

2. The position and visibility of the fog light switches.

3. A RR type analogue dashboard clock - I can't see the LCD one when wearing Polaroids (which is during most of the daylight hours).

4. A stronger and more secure petrol cap cover.

And, on a general point, a standardisation of the vehicle equipment specification in Ireland (Europe wide?). It's ridiculous that you can expect to receive a full UK spec vehicle in Northern Ireland and yet not in the Republic, where we're obliged to pay considerably more for our "base" Landy's and then have to purchase UK standard equipment as very expensive "extras". (eg: 650 Euros for rear parking sensors).

I find that the backseat legroom is small enough as it is, to have them sliding forward anymore they couldn't possibly seat anyone, so why not just put the rear seats down?

As for height, thats probably down to where the spare wheel is kept. Would you prefer the next model to be taller or have the spare wheel hanging off the rear like in the FL1?

Definately a 3 Door version & along with that bring back some/or all of the other virtues from the Freelander 1 which were omited in the FL2 - Why was this anyway?

Please put leather headrests in the car rather than stating in the brochure leather trim to find the so called leather headrests are actally vinyl Mad (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

The best thing LR can do is to KEEP IT SIMPLE like it is - no air suspension, no DR, no ARM, nothing that isn't thoroughly tested before launch, get the product working properly before it is launched so buyers don't feel like they are the test drivers, no needless things that add weight like split tailgates, NO HYBRID (leave that to LRX), and the most expensive version should be no more expensive than a good quality mid sized saloon car. IIRC F3 is to share the same platform as the 2013 Defender replacement so things like proper 4WD and low ratios should be possible but they will add weight and complexity

Also anybody working on the line who doesn't put it together better than a BMW or Audi should be sacked............. LR expect prices higher than either maker but don't give the same quality of construction. Sorry to be harsh but I'm afraid LR's are still not that well put together How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen
Defender 90 County HT in Epsom Green
