Anyway, on a serious note, I wonder if the Hamsters Land Cruiser was allowed to roll down the dune deliberately as it would have simply been too dangerous for him to chance driving down it

I'd practically guarantee it. Yes, it was an obviously staged incident thing but it was so obvious as to be transparent. Hamster's Landcruiser was so bent at that point that I didn't think he'd attempt the descent in it. Better to sacrifice it to humour than risk a tumble.

Still a cracking good show. I don't look to Top Gear to be a serious motoring programme but a bit of car-based entertainment and they deliver that in spades.

Did you notice that when the vehicles were delivered on the barge not one had a winch - yet as soon as they were in the jungle they sudddenly all sprouted winches?

I recall that were some other 'sudden transformations' as well, so Snappa's suggestion of only a 3 vehicle + mechanics back-up is probably an underestimate!

I have to admit that I was half hoping that Clarkson would actually drop over the side when he squeezed past the Landcruiser on the road with the sheer drop. 2007 Baltic Blue SE TD4 Auto

Thats because they were in the Ann Summers box with the condoms, tampons and Viagra.....they then bolted them to the front of the cars - (which was edited out!)

They have a large back up crew and I don't believe thats a secret - from mechanics, to fixers to Doctors...

Great programme which you do have to take with a pinch of salt at times.... Thumbs Up Nick Thornton

Back to the subject!! I love Top Gear but agree with other comments that there is a lot of 'staging' and purposeful 'set ups' rather than the 'lets sit back and see what happens' approach. I know they do it for entertainment value but it insults the viewers intelligence.

Take for example the famous caravan episode when they try and make a U-turn in a narrow road only for the police to suddenly appear and setting fire to the neighbouring caravan when trying to put out the fire, was it me or was the hamster aiming that seat cushion rather than lobbing it out the window?

If you check out youtube someone has posted numerous errors in the show, can anyone remember Clarkson driving the RS4 up a mountain whilst 2 rock climbers clamber up? At the top Clarkson gets out of the Audi with the window up, a second later another camera shot of him talking to them clearly shows the window down, whilst talking another shot shows the window up again! Another example was the America episode where the Hamsters bbq he fitted on the back makes an appearance about 10 minutes before he actually had it fitted!

And the problem is?? wouldn't any sane man aid and abet a caravan fire, I would have suspected staging if he had tried to fight the fire Whistle

It would have been funnier if the Clarksons machine gun that was in the back of the caravan started firing bullets into every caravans gas bottle thus setting fire to all of the caravans on the site - now that would be entertainment! Thumbs Up Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Its a pity they didn't all run out of oxygen and never got back down again  , then we could be spared further programs  - Top Gear has become the most unserious car program on TV and is hosted by 3 complete idiots, who unfortunately seem to be copied by other TV channels.

Could not agree more but apparently it is The BBC's biggest money earner in sales to other stations worldwide.

Clarkson has only one saving grace. He keeps a couple of Donkeys (not May and Hammond, four legged ones)

The best programme over the Christmas period did involve one of his mates though, it was May's series on Meccanno, Lego Scalelectric and Hornby Doublo. The Scalelectic on round the old Brooklands race circuit was excellent!
