Germany 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Alaska White

I was getting about 25 - 28mpg, with about 19 towing. Since 15K (now got 20K) I am getting 30-32 in mixed town and b road driving, but put it on an Autobahn on the cruise control at 80mph and I am getting 39 to 40 mpg (not bad for an auto). Towing I am now getting about 22. A definite improvement was noticed after 15K; don't know why as it was serviced at 10.5K, and is due another service in a month or so. Funny you should say that, mine was exactly the same.
Had an oil change at 5k, service at 14k and then saw better mpg figures after the service. Very Happy

Still averaging around 34 mpg at the minute.

Trip computers are not really a true average and should be viewed as just a guide.
The best way is to full up, zero the mileage and then in our case 300 miles later fill back up again.
Change how many litres you have put in to gallons (divide by 4.55) and then divide the mileage you've done with the gallons used. So in our recent case 61.31 litres = 13.47 gallons, doing 312 miles = 23.16 mpg (all short urban trips, wife using it midweek, me at the weekend or occasionally long haul with 1500kg of white box on the back). I think it's the midweek trips that are drinking it Rolling with laughter

Several times I have checked the FL2 computer reading against the manual method/web based calculator and also using different driving conditions, but the results are always (almost) the same Very Happy No big variations that would warrant not relying on the computer reading Thumbs Up

Has anybody else had a similar experience Question If the results you are getting are vastly different it may be interesting to hear your results. The bottom line must be if or not to rely on the computer reading Question

Yes I have checked the computer against manual checking lots of times and its the first vehicle I have had where the computer is always within .1mpg of the actual so dont even bother checking now.

My average in an auto round town is 24/25MPG and did a 300 mile run back from Plymouth averaging around 90mph and got 27mpg.

If I drive carefully not going over 70 then I never get more than 32mpg.

My computer reads 29.8 mpg and has done from day 1, regardless of how the vehicle is driven. Confused

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Loire Blue

My average is 30.5 at the moment and a lot of that is urban driving - I'm impressed for an auto. I don't drive it particularly hard though (unless I've had a bad day at work - which is a frequent occurrence these days Exclamation ) Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver

My 07 XS manual does anything between 34mpg & 42mpg. 42mpg is driving up to Scotland sticking below 1800 revs all the way! Laughing 34mpg is driving 6 miles & back to work every day with the odd shorter/longer run and when I fill up my average speed is around 28mph so pretty much town driving.
