Genuine LR Sat Nav into "S" version

Hi,

Just got a completelly Genuine LR Sat Nav unit for my Freelander 2, it comes with screen, central console and aerial would like to install in my vehicle but problem seen that its an "S" version and could be a difficult task.

Any technical file about install in "SE" or "HSE" will be much apreciated. Are there any pre wired cables to install it??

Any help much appreciated Very Happy Very Happy

Cheers

I think it might be a bit more complicated than plug and play, I don't think it's possible to be honest Confused

I don't think its realisticaly possible you need to wire in some other stuff steering angle sensors etc etc and probably a different wiring loom, like anything probably possible but it may be simpler to stick an after market screen in the dash hole with a fixed sat nav system

Carnoch is the resident expert on here but he isnt around so much

edit. seems his pics of the install have disappeared Confused At work

I think the high line wiring system is different so its not just a plug and play. Even if it was plug and play there are several things that need integrating, no just the screen and dvd player.

Everything is possible, it just a cost to benefit calculation. Probably better and cheaper buying a higher spec car.

hope this helps

High line wiring loom is different, it's possible to connect it as a basic sat nav (all it 'needs' from the vehicle is a composite speed signal from the ABS) but some of the more integrated features will not be available

To be honest, I think that with the daft directions my genuine LR fitted Sat Nav makes I would stick with a TomTom unit.

Get schematic diagrams from:
https://www.freel2.com/gallery/albums/userp...TS_LHD.pdf

See what differences are between the ones with satnav (Infotainment Hi-Line) and the ones without (Infotainment Lo-Line).
I am afraid that you will need another wireloom, because the Hi-Line version - the one that has Navigation - has a different network for comunication between modules - MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) http://www.igigroup.com/st/pages/pof_MOST.html
The Lo-Line has only CAN Bus.

So, I am afraid that you will find the install too complicated...

Hi,

You are right, I haven't been on this site for months and months. Just been too busy - not work I hasten to add and been out of the country. I can now drive better on the right hand side of the road in a left hand drive car.

Anyway, should be about until Christmas then off again. Re the reto fit Satnav, I can put to the pics back. Don't know what happened to them. Maybe the hosting site deletes them after a while. I can also show you how to reto fit the gear so it basically connectss into the aux socket and WONT cause any problems with the warranty at the dealers. Can do the same with a Discovery. Both look factory fit.
