New Member To The LR2 Family

Hey guys. New to the site and to the LR2 / FR2 family. Got my new Black LR2 last week and I already have a question. I noticed a couple days ago that on both exhaust pipes, on the outside part, like the ring of the pipe, they had some black stuff on it, almost like soot or something. You can wipe your finger on it and it comes right up. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them or if they know what it could possibly be?? Thanks and look forward to talking some LR2 with everyone.

Hi and congrats with your purchase!

Reading that u have 2 exhaust pipes I presume you have the petrol engine. As I have a diesel engine, like I'm afraid most of us have, I personally can't help u with that.

Congrats on the new Rover! Yup, perfectly normal, I have to clean my exhaust tips every few washes or so...

Thanks for the responses. Went to my dealership today and they told me it was just the carbon coming out of the car and that it was nothing to be worried about.

I run only premium gas and my 08 gets the same black carbon on both exhausts. I just clean then whenever I wash it.

Nothing to worry about. If we were concerned about global warming we wouldn't be in Land Rovers.

I'll just trade you for your diesel.

Don't get me wrong, I love the inline 6, it has great torque and a lot of power (for a small SUV) but I'd love to have even more torque with the diesel and better mileage.

What do y'all get, about 35-38 mpg? I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.
