Clutch Slipping

I have an FL2 TD4, with 27000 miles, 6000 towing a 1400kg caravan, first noticed a clutch slip changing from 2nd to 3rd up hill under load, would slip by about 300 rpm and then recover. Now slipping in 3rd to 5th under load again. Did manage to demonstrate to dealer whilst had van in tow.

Vehicle is due in dealer in two weeks for look see.

Anyone have any similar experience and know the attitude of LR under similar circumstances.

Hi

I had my clutch replaced under warranty quite a few months back because it was slipping, no problems re warranty (service centre-Team Valley Land Rover) as soon as they test drove it, yeah we'll order you a new clutch in.

Apparently a few of the first cars had faulty clutches! Shocked Current 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Black 2016 Onwards

Mine did that too!! at 2000 rpm and i could make it do it all the time with the van on but not solo,
mine had dual mass and clutch replaced.fine now.
took 4 days to get sorted, ant the fitter left my nsf wheel nuts loose!! so check them before you take it from the dealer, had to slum it in a disco 3 as the loaner, what a thirsty wallowy boat they are!!!!

Mine did it after a while, then stopped and despite towing 1400 kg for many thousands of miles over he Alps etc it never did it again, dealer confirmed that clutch is an unlimited mileage cover under warranty.

Hi
Similar experience from me. Had mine replaced under warranty @ 25K. Slipping just as you have described. There have been a few issues with substandard cover plates on the clutch (springs not strong enough - hence slipping when max torque required).

Now on 40K with towing 1500Kg van + other 2tonne trailers with no problems.

Mine is an early car and had the 300rpm slip from 1800rpm to 2100rpm. It was repalced under warrnaty in January this year. You should be fine with it being done under warranty. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Well, the vehicle finally went in, 3 weeks after reporting the problem, took LR 4 working days to make a warranty decision, during which time they asked me to advise the mass of the caravan and send them a photo of it ???

Fortunately the warranty decision was positive and the faulty clutch was replaced along with a rear crank seal and the slave cylinder, the bad news is that the clutch pedal is now soggy, engages and disengages at varying points of the travel, often only comes half way back up after disengaging, suspect air in system, will have to go back in next week.

LR states that the FL2 can tow 2000KG. So therefore it should be able to tow 2000KG. They do not state this is abusing the vehicle or invalidating the warranty

In what way is this fair to non vaners(sic) how could a non vanner be treated unfairly if a clutch problem develops on a car owned by a vanner?
