please help i have a freelander 2 hse with an alarm problem i think on friday night in strong winds i thought my alarm was going off at 3am went out and unlocked doors then re locked all ok then today my wife calls me to say alarm going off again and wont go off told her to unlock and relock alarm still going on other end of phone told her to unlock again alarm still sounding put fob into ignition still sounding start engine still sounding started to drive home and went off after approx 1 min all the time no hazard lights operating when she arrived home i tried various lock unlock no alarm sat in car and single locked doors opened door and different alarm sounds with hazard lights flashing this is the car horn making the alarm sound much much louder than the friday night and todays alarms which were not that loud any ideas guys it was too late to call the dealers tonight |

could be the alarm backup battery, Avtur had similar problems At work

I had the same thing. It's the battery backup sounder.

This is the latest recall. It affects some Freelander 2 models, and it is easy to rectify. This was mentioned to me by the dealer yesterday when I asked about the recalls schedule. apparently if your car is not affected yet, it is unlikely to be in the future. |

car now booked in to dealers for the above alarm fault and the seat belt b pillars b4 warranty expires |

I had the same, the alarm going off and I couldn't stop it. I wasn't the neighbours best friend! It's as you now know the battery back up sounder. It's a small gold box located to the side of the battery attached to the bulkhead, if it's getting inconvenient you can disconnect it until it's fixed! |

The LR assist guy took mine out and I stuck it in a tupperware box in padding to stop the noise it was making, although the battery doesnt last long..... |

what is the purpose of the battery back up sounder just want to know if this is faulty or is it going off as there is another problem with battery etc |

I received a call from Landrover yesterday advising me that I needed get the vehicle booked in for a recall job on the horn? (10 minute job)

similar age to mine then, I shall await my recall letter too. I havnt any problems though At work

Thats the odd thing. The dealer I brought it from didn't contact me. I received the telephone call from the dealer I had the car serviced at last week. (cheaper service quote, hence using them) Prior to that service, I'd had zero dealings with them. |
