As I live up in the hills my fuel consumption may be a bit lower than some of you (30-35mpg). On a good run driving carefully I get well over 40mpg. Only around 25 mpg towing the caravan though.

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Had the car a week now and im getting a lowly 27mpg! (indicated).... Big Cry
What am I doing wrong!!!

However, this is typically urban driving, mainly too and from work. The longest journey i've made is the 36miles back from the dealers!
Hopefully after a good run, and when I stop driving it like I'm still in the Audi it may creep up a little!

With regards to the ECU update, how would I find out what version my FL2 is?

FL2 GS Auto 21k miles. Used 2 stroke for last 6 fill ups.
150 miles main roads, heavy traffic through Glasgow, fairly fast when possible to Oban 35.2mpg on trip.
After 20 mile run to Tobermorry still 35.0. During weekend covered further 150 miles on island all single track roads with lots of stop and start at passing places. Includes 65 mile fast run over hill roads to an accident driving as fast as safe (road closed to oncomming traffic). At end of stay on island 29.8mpg. Oban to home normal running and trip back up to 32.4mpg for total trip.
Very pleased. All FL2's (3) Gone

A Bugatti Vernon (spelling ??) will do 253 mph and drinks fuel at a rate of 200 liters every 12 minutes (so I’m told) and the tires only last 1 hour, Drive it at normal motorway speeds and its better on fuel then a v8 super changed petrol Ranger Rover. It’s got much better Aerodynamics, There weigh about the same and there both 4 wheel drive. (Horse’s for courses)

It's a Veyron. Vernon is a bloke form Bolton who's all over the place. Good point well made though. I get about 35 on a longish fast M'way run,

How the hell do people get 40+mpg?!?!

Just did my 1st complete tank (full to the brim to about 25miles left in the tank), got an average of 33.5mpg, thats a daily 70mile commute on the M5/M6/M42 (35mile each way). In the day time, I'll be stuck in a traffic jam on the M5 and there's now a 50mph restriction on the stretch of M6 I go on. I can just about get 500miles per tank.

Recent trips down to Englandshire and Glasgow a few times I have found that you get better fuel economy by not using the cruise control.

Infact, the recent trip to Englandshire yielded an extra 3 - 4 mpg by not using the cruise control Thumbs Up ______________________

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Hi all,
Reading down the thread I'm now less diappointed Smile with my mpg but only because its similar to most of the UK contributions. Around town anytime of year I get around 25-30, on a run maybe up to 35-37 if I am lucky!

I would agree that Cruise control does tend to knock it down a bit and climate control on also makes a difference. It doesn't seem to matter whether its just me or fully loaded for a week away. Best figure I have had was with full load (wife, 2 kids and dog + luggade) and Roof box on - how dow that work?

The biggest thing I have noticed is thta it better to pootle around in 5th rather than 6th if you are travellinga round 50mph! Any ideas anyone? Question There's always a way forward!

2011 Freelander Td4 GS 150 - Rimini Red - in its place - Better x far x 4!!

I'm getting about 40 mpg with mixed country roads, A roads and motorway driving on a weekly commute of 180 miles each way. What hurts is the short in town drive from lodgings to the office. This over the week will reduce a reported 42 mpg to 39 mpg. The majority of the commute is on cruise control and I totally agree about using the correct gear for the speed, too high a gear and the mpg drops dramatically despite the revs being lower. Overall very happy with the figures
