Vehicle was back at dealers today for evaluiation of the noise. The conclusion is that the noise is down to the turbo. Technician hadn't experienced the same noise before so problem was referred back to LR Technical Services. Perhaps the expected response from LR "nothing wrong - noise acceptable". Have been advised by Dealer to continue to run vehicle for a few more thousand miles then report back if problem still evident.

It's not the dreaded fan/aircon noise that has been discussed in another thread is it? |

Thanks JT for the suggestion it might be related to the air con fan. Having sweated out a journey without air con or blower fan on it seems the noise I am getting is still there.

What appears and sounds like turbo noise is still apparent on my HST Auto having now covered a few thousand miles since my last posting. The noise is only apparent when at idle or just above idle speeds. Possibly its still there at other engine speeds but isn't detectable because of the other operating noises etc. Most noticeable when switching off when the turbo spin down sounds a bit like a helicopter stopping ie a decaying whirring noise.
