2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Lago Grey

Just bought one of these from them, works out a little bit more with the admin charges etc but 20,500 for a brand new SE, Lago Grey, take delivery on 1st September. I have been looking for one for quite some time, and tried lots of hagglng with LR dealers and this by far is a good deal. I have been assured it is UK supplied and not import as Motorpoint do sell lots of them. Spec seems identical except no Sat Nav and I beleive this us standard on UK SE models. Not a major issue for me though, even takng this into account I think this a stella deal. They had 15 available when I put the deposit down on the 4th August all sold by last weekend except for a couple of Alaska White's.

Good serivce from these guys, although when I showed interest the sales man was quite keen while i checked the car out further and I had lots of phone calls, but given the state of the market right now I was not surprised.

Got a great finance deal as well.

Looking forward to becoming more active on here as well, seems an excellent forum!

If it's meant to have Sat Nav but doesn't, what else may be missing from the spec, and where is it coming from? Phil

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Lago Grey

Everything else is the same as SE spec, I checked several times, it is badged as SE. I asked the Q to the sales guy, not the most reliable source but it seems Motorpoint buy in bulk from LR and I suspect that this bulk came without Satnav but everything else, hence they probably bought them in for a few grand less than 20K which minus sat nav makes sense. BTW it is a command shift Auto as well.

A few weeks ago they had over 30 in stock so this seems to stack up. It would make a huge amount of sense for LR to sell on in bulk, especially at this time in the car market.

At GBP20,500 I am not going to argue to much as by any standards it is a very good deal and motorpoint is one of the biggest dealers in the UK if not the biggest independent.

I had a choice of colours, Bali Blue, Zermatt Silver, Alaska white and Izmir Blue as well as the last Lago Grey. To be honest I like them all, even Alaska White! But come resale time I think Lago Grey will sell a bit more easily.

LR probably removed sat nav to appease dealers so there can't be a direct price comparison due to different spec.

i think it will be that they have bought a load from across the water and are selling them over here

I don't think it would be cost effect to remove a Satnav just because your buying in bulk

I suspect christian 138 is right, appeases the LR dealers.

Nowt wrong with grey imports, I had a Mitsubishi GTO from Japan, can't remember the exact saving but it was something like £10K cheaper than UK main dealer even with cost of shipping, insurance etc!

i didnt mean that they had physically removed them merely removed them from the building spec.

They do this sort of thing with white goods all the time so a retailer can sell a special purchase item with a slightly different spec so as not to p Censored s off John Lewis "never knowingly undersold"

I knew what you meant, I also meant on the production line

But i am sure, if GREYIMPORTS'R'US said can i have a SE spec car without the satnav LR would say no way.

Nowt wrong the Grey Imports, my bro in law used to import them whn he lived in Japan, nearly bought a lovely Supra Twin Turbo from him Cool Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

thing with grey imports are they are specified for a different market, not saying they're bad but there can be things missing that aren't done because of that, or sometimes there are extras which are not UK specific. Does the V5 state anything about that? Phil

If the cars are indeed "grey imports" it would be worthwhile checking to see if they have been undersealed.

Makes my £18,900odd for a MY09 GS in Lago Grey look, via a broker, positively expensive
