It probably uses a bit more fuel because its driving 4 wheels and not just two. The high CO2 output is more of a concern.

The post was just an observation on how good economy one can achieve with a modern diesel car, without the expense and complexity of hybrids etc. Clearly the FL is never going to match, especially with 4x4, auto and the aerodynamics of a house brick Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys |

I found the FL2 economy to be great especially when you consider all the down points you mention. Having said goodbye to my FL2 with just under 64k miles on the clock I recorded an average fuel consumption of 37.1mpg over that mileage, a simple calcualtion of fuel fuel in tank vs miles driven (nothing to do with the computer); that includes just under 3k miles towing the caravan (which always saw me in the very low 20's!). I would say that is excellent fuel economy and I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there driving motors - none FL2 - that return consumption way short of that, but they don't realise. FL2 ...63,800 miles ... 37.1mpg ... Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor ... but not any more ... ... psst look at my gallery! Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013. |
