Has anyone found a good route for getting auxiliary electrical cables from the battery into the cabin?

Found these a month or so ago and seemed to me a really neat idea, so I added to my 'must remember' list.

No need to break into wiring harness, just do it at the interior fuse panel!

For my stereo setup I lifted the battery out and found a grommet behind the battery that went through the Firewall and into the cabin just above the passengers footwell.

From there its an easy run down the passengers side sill to the back seat and into the spare wheel area.

Becareful lifting the battery out, its a heavy ! My car is LHD.

Just remember the Piggy Back Fuse Bypass probably wouldn't be suitable for high power applications i.e driving an amplifer or UHF radio. You'd need to run a new power cable from the battery. 2007 TD4 SE

CG - you suggested that there was a power supply to feed an aux socket in the boot - I asked LR and they said don't touch it in warranty. Need to power a fridge in the boot so can you give me anymore info.

Put a low ampage inline fuse in and make a tidy job and there should be no comeback on warranty??

I didnt do it, I aim to spend very little time in my boot so dont need a power supply  At work

It depnds on how many watts your fridge is rated for.

If it uses 150W then the Amps is 150W/12v = 12.5A.

So if you make sure that the fuse socket that you are using the piggy back off is rate for > 12.5A AND isn't going to be used by another device in the car at the same time as your fridge then you will be ok.

Most fridges are sensitive to voltage drop (i.e they won't be as efficient as possible) so make sure you use decent cable. 2007 TD4 SE

I used the piggy back for a hidden tracker, very neat install. The device only uses a few amps of elastictrickery

The piggy works off of the battery side of the fuse not the fused side so the only real consideration is the rating of the fuse holder itself, or rating of an upstream fuse, which I couldn't find so may not be one?

Agree though, don't use it for high power applications like a base tube or high power stereo unless you like Flame Grilled Freelander 58 HSE, auto, lago grey, tints. Mine and my dogs Storm and Sky
