Approval from LandRover for "H" speed-index

Hi folks,

Does anyone have or know a source for an approval from LandRover for the tire dimension 235/60r18 107H? It's the original dimension except of the Speed-Index "H" instead of "V".

Regards, Günther

Not quite sure what you mean by "approval" ?
Is this something to do with Austrian law ? Jules

Hi Jules,

What I mean is a certificate from LandRover, that it's "OK" to use a "H" Speed-Index on the car.
According to other threads there was a list on Topix with approved tyre dimensons, maybe "H" tyres are in there, but I can't find it anymore.

Yes, it has to do with the law in Austria, because I can only use tyres with the exact specifications in the registration document.
Guess it's the same in England, isn't it?

Tyre that I want to use is a "Falken WILDPEAK A/T AT3WA 235/60 R18 107H"

Thé “H” speed rating means for use up to 130mph…..if I remember correctly…..so if you’re using tyres on an FL2 surely there’s no problem………… FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current

Thank you very much to taking the picture. Unfortunately I'm using 18" rims. Big Cry I really don't want to buy new ones. And for the authority it has to be an exact match in dimension

Just looked at Falken website……thé Wildpeak À/T that you want to use looks a really meaty Tyre.

But surely thé sidewall would get scuffed with a lot of off-roading…..! Laughing FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current

Freely, a shot in the dark, but this is no use to you is it? https://www.falkentyre.com/en/service/tyre-approval-certificates

OxonPete: We have done all sorts of pay 'n plays, 4x4 experience days and general off-roading with our Falken Wildpeak AT3Wa all terrain tyres with 30mm spacers and the sidewalls still look as good as new Smile .

No, its not the same in the UK. Our vehicle registration documents do not mention wheel or tyre sizes.
You can fit different size wheels and tyres as along as your insurer accepts the modifications.
So it's common in the UK to fit wider, lower profile tyres than those fitted as standard on cars.

You can also alter the suspension too ; lowering or raising it - the latter being common on Landrovers.

My Fiesta ST has 225/40 R18 tyres instead of the standard 205/40 R18 ones, it handles and brakes better as a result. And they are £100 cheaper per tyre (same tyre) than the OEM size.

People often assume the manufacturers standard tyre fitment is optimal for the vehicle but often a certain tyre size is chosen to perform best in aerodynamic and fuel consumption tests, rather than for passenger comfort or handling. Jules

@ Dean1234 Thank you for posting the link. It might be usefull, we will see. Nice picture btw.

@jules I did not know that. Very interesting, I get envous Very Happy

Thank you all for sharing your information. Well, because I use the FL for 99% onroad Embarassed , I think I'll get an onroad all seasons tyre with the right speed-index again. But we will see...

Regards, Günther
