Diamond Cut Alloy Repair

I have a HSE LUX with diamond cut alloys that look a little shabby now. Have people opted to have them repaired to the original finish or chosen to have them powder coated? The latter will certainly last longer, but the diamond cut finish does look nice. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I had my old HSE Lux ones powder coated in a silver finish, getting rid of the diamond cut - much better.
I had a Metropolis after that with gloss black wheels - even better again.

Diamond cut wheels while they look good they are only protected by lacquer. As soon as you get a chip or scratch on that lacquer then corrosion starts on the aluminium with the result that they soon look pretty shabby. Powdercoating or even paint then lacquer is much more robust and stays looking good for longer. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

And every time a diamond cut alloy is refurbished you put the wheel through more heat cycles and loose a little more of the fabric of the wheel.

Quite right Bobupandown……

I made the mistake of not cleaning the road salt off the wheels during the winter about 7yrs ago….lots of salt used on motorways I used daily, doing lots of miles. Thé salt gets under the lacquer & corrodes the aluminum terribly, thé wheels looked really bad. Couldn’t find local recommended refurb company so I bought new alloys 19in Evoque gold/silver from Powerful.UK……April’22…….sold old wheels on EBay….
Evoque alloys still look like new…..painted not diamond-cut. FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current
