Hey

Does anyone have a solution to upgrading my dismal headlights. There the last face lift ones with LED DRLs and a single HB3 Halogen that does main & dip using a silly motorised shutter

Hids4U seems to be the preferred option, I keep meaning to get some for my 2014.

But why are the shutter lights stupid? I find they work just fine. 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Lots of discussions on here - covering the pros and cons of LED and HID upgrades - do a search.

After trialling several LED bulbs I gave up with them (I found the projector lens doesnt focus the LEDs broad beam properly so you get odd beam pattern and poor reach).

I then installed the HID4U Stealth HID upgrade several years ago - had no problems - massive improvement over the halogen HB3. Easy installation, all fits inside the headlight unit.

But maybe LED bulbs have improved since - I dont know. Jules

I went with these on my ‘13 HSE:
NOVSIGHT 9005 HB3 LED Headlight... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07RZ48B8H?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Cheaper alternative to the stealth HID kit, I will probably buy that at some point in the new year, but very happy with the Novsight ones in the meantime. Personally think the beam pattern is ok, not dazzling to other drivers either.

I can see why those LEDs might work well - the emitter is close to the centre line unlike many earlier LEDs I tried several years ago Jules

I have just gone to led from HID because I had a lot of problems with the drivers side not working properly some days it worked some days it didn't

Now the led seems to work all the time but the output is not as good
Maybe a better quality led may be fine but the ones I have are recommended for projector lenses

Maybe if I can get the car plugged in and the ccf file changed to HID lights then I can switch back to HID as they are very good when they are on

The old halogen bulbs are horrific and just blow all the time

Its odd - one side only working intermittently. Mine have been perfect from day one.
Poor connection somewhere ?
Have you spoken with the supplier ?

Just a thought - my 2014 model shuts down light circuits if there is a short - even a transient one you might get when inserting a new trailer bulb fo rinstance. Could the problem be along those lines - a transient short somewhere?? Jules

Tried 2 different kits
Halogen and led work fine
I am convinced it's a ccf configuration problem
What I cannot understand is why just that side
