Re the autobox oil, I changed mine using the gibbons method first time round but recently I've been doing a partial change every 10000 mile service by dropping the oil which comes out with the drain plug, around 3 litres and then just putting the exact same amount of new oil back in.

All these sealed for life enclosures requiring oil, grease or other forms of lubricant have a phrase missing from the description, that is "of the warranty in force". Interestingly Aisin recommends every 2 years or 20,000 miles, which is interesting.

Sealed for life. Means for the life of the gearbox which will be quite short if you dont change the ATF. Jules |

Never seen that before - thanks.
I suppose every 5 years and 30K miles will just have to do. Jules |

Spot on. The glow plugs that come in LR boxes are actually NGK, which are ½ the cost when not in LR boxes. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone. Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver. 1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project. |

Update Garage has now agreed to do the job using the fluid I will supply - so it's just the Labour charge - just ! is about £75 per hour plusVat. He thought the box may have a filter in it ? Does anybody know if there is one ? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey |

Yes there's a filter - but it's internal, so not a service item. |

Just received my delivery of fluid from Smith &Allen. Brilliant service as I only placed the order yesterday morning.

That reminds me that I need to do Auto box next service. The AWF21 Aisin is a good gearbox but you do need to look after it. |

Update Just had Auto Transmission fluid drained and refilled 3 times by local specialist. It took about 9 litres of new fluid. Only done the short drive home so far but It does feel very smooth now but perhaps that's in my mind.? The one situation where it has felt a little clunky in the past was when changing down into second to negotiate a very tight turn into my side road. This time it definitely felt much smoother. The garage charged me 2 hours labour and used the fluid I supplied myself ( it cost me £67 for 10 litres. Worth it for a bit of peace of mind after 97000 miles. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey |
