JLR dont make lubricants or brake parts or wiper blades or light bulbs or tyres or shock absorbers etc so as long as the spec is met and the quality is acceptable then its OK in my book. Jules

Exactly right Jules,

It’s bizzare……the same in every trade…….manufactures boxed items way more than same item in OE suppliers packaging……….it’s just finding info that can take time……. !

Re the autobox oil, I changed mine using the gibbons method first time round but recently I've been doing a partial change every 10000 mile service by dropping the oil which comes out with the drain plug, around 3 litres and then just putting the exact same amount of new oil back in.
My thinking is that it's keeping the oil fairly fresh all the time rather than leaving it for 60000 miles or whatever.

If you've done 90000 without it being changed I'd say it's definitely time to have it done before more serious problems arise.
Someone on here did 150 or 160000 miles and the gearbox didn't like it. So much for Landrover's sealed for life.... Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

All these sealed for life enclosures requiring oil, grease or other forms of lubricant have a phrase missing from the description, that is "of the warranty in force". Interestingly Aisin recommends every 2 years or 20,000 miles, which is interesting.

Sealed for life. Means for the life of the gearbox which will be quite short if you dont change the ATF. Jules

Never seen that before - thanks.

I suppose every 5 years and 30K miles will just have to do. Confused Jules

Spot on. The glow plugs that come in LR boxes are actually NGK, which are ½ the cost when not in LR boxes. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Update
Garage has now agreed to do the job using the fluid I will supply - so it's just the Labour charge - just ! is about £75 per hour plusVat.

He thought the box may have a filter in it ? Does anybody know if there is one ? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

Yes there's a filter - but it's internal, so not a service item.

@Lakelander
I'd be very surprised if yuo dont notice an improvement in the Autobox after an near full ATF change. Jules

Just received my delivery of fluid from Smith &Allen. Brilliant service as I only placed the order yesterday morning.
10 litres of LV Synthetic transmission fluid for £66 with free delivery.
Will update once I've had a couple of drain and refills done. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

That reminds me that I need to do Auto box next service.
The AWF21 Aisin is a good gearbox but you do need to look after it.
